My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Recent GMU grad with a degree in Music Performance, discovering this 'real life' thing people keep talking about. I'm a percussionist, and a solid 90% of my days revolve around that. Teaching, performing, practicing, and pretending it's a hugely marketable skill.

I don't really know what else to write here.

Also, I grew a beard recently, but since I refuse to take selfies, I don't have any pictures of it. That said, it's glorious, and until I get a picture, you'll just have to take my word for it.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Teaching percussion. Like, a lot.

Also getting ready to audition for grad schools this coming spring.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Getting paid to play the triangle and yell at children.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
You'd have to tell me, I've never asked anyone.

I'm often compared to Russell from Up. I'm not sure how I feel about that.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Books: Cloud Atlas, Mr. Vertigo, Catcher in the Rye, Ender's Game, and anything by Chuck Klosterman. Always looking for suggestions as well. Don't get much time to read these days, though.

Movies: I've never been into horror movies. Can't explain it, sorry if that's your thing. Other than that, anything. Particularly fond of action, comedy, and especially those movies that walk the fine line between the two. The occasional documentary, too.

TV: Rarely actually watch live TV, but I'm all about Netflix. Scrubs, Parks & Rec, The Office, HIMYM, Arrested Development, The West Wing, Colbert, The Daily Show.

Music: Quite literally anything. I majored in it, so I'd better freaking like it. On one hand, I paid money to see a 5-hour long opera at the Kennedy Center last fall, and I left with a smile on my face. On the other, I blast T-Swift every time she comes on the radio. (Shake It Off is definitely her magnum opus)

Here's a list of personal favorites, though... In no particular order. Bloc Party, Streetlight Manifesto, Of Monsters and Men, Frightened Rabbit, The Shins, Pearl Jam, Reel Big Fish, Foo Fighters, Avicii, Imagine Dragons, Band of Horses, Bright Eyes.

Food: Mexican, Any kind of Asian, Italian... So basically, if it's spicy or covered in cheese, I'll eat it. I'm a simple man.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
It seems like everyone just puts some combination of 'family', 'friends', 'music', 'my phone', 'my computer', 'the Internet', 'a good book', and 'oxygen'. So instead of making a list, I'm just going to go hit random article on wikipedia 6 times.

1) The Winter Olympics
2) Potatoes
3) American Airlines
4) Fad Diets
5) Chamomile
6) Norway

It may be incoherent, but at least it's interesting.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Politics. I like pretending I'm informed.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Lately, working... Being a marching band instructor means I have to go to high school football games. Ugh.

November can't come fast enough.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I voluntarily spent five weeks of last summer playing operas. Granted, I got to spend those five weeks living in Tuscany, so that's neat.

You seek a companion in the never-ending journey to find DC's greatest burrito joint.

I'm terrible at answering, I promise I don't hate anyone.
