I am smart, quirky, and self-deprecating.

My Self-Summary

I'm a recent transplant to Portland, and I'm going to school on and off. I am an unabashed, unrepentant nerd. I like snakes, staring at the sky (night or day), and my favorite breakfast is fakin bacon, hashbrowns, and scrambled tofu. I have tongue and labret piercings, four tattoos, and extremely liberal political views. I am not afraid to say what I'm thinking, because I would rather piss someone off than lie to them. I do not like liars, arrogance, misogyny, freeloaders, stale coffee breath, or those who treat children like they are mentally impaired. I can be friends with almost anyone, but I am pretty picky about who I'll date seriously, and I'd rather be alone than unhappy. If I haven't frightened the pants off you yet, drop me a line, because I really am a nice girl, I'm just blunt.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm settling into life in Portland, and going to school when I can. School is good. I took a 6 year break from college, and I am so ready to be back at it. I figure if I can still test into Calculus after the time off, then I am wasting my brain if I don't go.

I also work at a call center (oh, joy!), which isn't the most fun job in the world, but it keeps the lights on, and gives me drinkin' money. So I keep working there.

I’m really good at

math, reading comics, finding good used CDs, making people laugh, counting coins, picking out ripe mangoes, knowing the answer to seemingly random questions or trivia, speaking my mind, dyeing hair, cooking yummy veggie food, laughing at myself, listening

The first things people usually notice about me

It used to be my cool hair, but I'd imagine these days I just look like a butch hipster. Once you get past that, its probably either my eyes/glasses or the fact that I'm a goofy sarcastic dork.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

A) anything by Arthur C Clarke, William Gibson, Philip K Dick, or James Patterson. I loved the Lord of the Rings, the Dune chronicles, Lolita, Juniper, Neuromancer, Lord of the Flies, the Great Gatsby, Of Mice and Men. I like good sci-fi, biographies, middle english novels, but I'll read anything because I love to read.

B) Blade Runner, Reservoir Dogs, Rocky Horror, Breakfast on Pluto, The Matrix (the first one), Labyrinth/any Jim Henson, Star Wars episodes 4,5, and 6, The Butterfly Effect, Donnie Darko, Grave of the Fireflies, Triplets of Belleville, Cecil B Demented, Life of Brian, Me and You and Everyone We Know, animation, just about anything weird, twisted, dark, or different, but I'm as bad about movies as I am books.

C)Led Zeppelin, the Beatles, Michael Franti & Spearhead, the Doors, Nirvana, Bad Religion, BT, Basement Jaxx, Flogging Molly, the Southtown Hounds, David Bowie, Del tha Funkee Homosapien, Blackalicious, Outkast, the Rolling Stones, Sublime, Tears for Fears, Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead, Blur, Jello Biafra, Voodoo Glow Skulls, Modest Mouse, DJ Tiesto, Flaming Lips, Hells Belles, Foo Fighters, Nirvana, the Clash, The Ramones, U2, Johnny Cash, Paul Oakenfold, Billie Holiday, Hank Williams, Mozart, Schubert, Dvorak, Dan the Automator Nakamura, etc. As you can see, I feel even more passionate about music than I do movies and books. Basically, I'll listen to anything but new country and bluegrass or christian music, but my faves are rock, electronic, punk, and good hip-hop.

D)As long as its vegetarian, I'll fare alright, but I have a softspot for asian cuisine (thai, chinese, japanese, korean, indian), and homestyle mexican warms my belly too. Secretly, I love sushi, and every once in a great while i give in and eat those yummy dead fish bits.

The six things I could never do without

air, water, food, and some manner of protection from the elements are all I really need, but assuming i get those for free, I'd want music, someone to have intelligent conversation with, lip balm, fingernail clippers, clean underwear, and the occasional beer.

I'd be pretty bummed if I couldn't have my bicycle, my books, or my knitting. A pen and a notebook also aid my sanity.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Politics, this f*@#ing war, our incoming new president, what i'm making for dinner, what cd i want next, what i'm doing on friday night, what classes to take next, if i took my vitamins this morning, why people litter, etc. Seriously, I tend to let my mind wander of its own free will, so I think about all kinds of random things in my free time.

On a typical Friday night I am

Hanging out with my friends, drinking beers, checking out a local band. That, or I'm curled up on my couch with a blanket, watching a movie.

With my current work schedule, Friday is my Tuesday. I usually get a drink at the pub across the street after work, or meander down to the fry cart to get a snack for my movie. Whee!

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

In my spare time I casually entertain various conspiracy theories. I don't buy into any of them, but they're fun to muse about.

You should message me if

you want to talk to me. I won't bite, unless you ask, or you really piss me off.

Seriously, send me a message if you want to hang out. I need to get out of the house more, and I can only read so many books over a pint at the pub across the street. Ok, that's a lie, but I'd still like to meet new people and do stuff.
