My self-summary
I am:

often goofy; almost always irreverent (but usually dead serious about politics, art, relationships and social justice); better at listening than talking; a lover of all things creative; on here to make friends, not for bootie calls (hopefully one very special friend in particular); funny and witty in a dry, sometimes sarcastic kind of way; obsessed by details like spelling and grammar but otherwise very much a big-picture kind of thinker; tall, medium complexioned and handsome-ish (I'd go with just plain handsome but I'm far too modest to talk about my ravishingly gorgeous good looks); an open book if you have other questions.

Why You Should Get to Know Me:

Because I'll write you irreverent but witty emails that will make you smile and even laugh aloud upon occasion. The Virtual Times says my emails "...really hit the spot. We're not sure WHICH spot mind you, but we're relatively certain is has been hit squarely upon the head. Or thereabouts."

I practice non-conforming religiously.

I'm forming a posse and MAYBE you could be a member.

I shall tell you the truth and set you free (or maybe just some tall tales that will stretch your belief and amuse you [one hopes]). I'll flatter you with the utmost sincerity and tease you with the best of intentions and a subtle, sly grin.

If your politics are way to the left of center, if you want someone who combines kindness and optimism with a deeply intrenched cynicism... come a' knocking.

My ideal match:

Our love song would be 'Androgynous' by the Replacements.

Someone who loves to receive silly (but witty) emails that read like those fortunes you get that are written by prisoners in fortune cookie factories. No bland, folded cookie though, but if you ask nicely I'd probably bake you some chocolate chip cookies (with nuts, sans fortune and unfolded).

Someone who needs to create or at least deeply and regularly appreciate art in order to stay sane. With tastes that are as refined as they are varied. You would be pleased watching a double feature of "The Blues Brothers" and "Wings of Desire;" going to a Sonic Youth concert that is opened by the NY Philharmonic; finishing Howard Zinn's "Declarations of Independence" and starting Neil Gaimons "Sandman;" you get the idea.

You are intelligent and informed enough to be cynical, have a heart intact enough to care; you should have plumbed the depths of sorrow and wired the heights of wonder and awe.
What I’m doing with my life
I work too much: full-time for the MO State Public Defenders office and part-time at 9th St Video (part of the Ragtag complex). Plus going to school part-time to complete a BA in Criminal Justice. Trying to live sustainably. Moving into my new house and making it a home. Getting back into photography. Busy? Yes.
I’m really good at
I'm NOT really good at answering this kind of question. But I will list the following: writing, cooking, photography, gardening, making/repairing things that involve wood (rough framing, not yet up to fine woodworking... maybe someday), thinking and talking about politics, staying informed about the state of the world.
The first things people usually notice about me
You tell me. Probably the fact that I'm tall. Also, I have a nicely shaped head-- so I've been told.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Movies: Delicatessen, Donnie Darko, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Last Night, Rivers and Tides, Waking Life, Blade Runner, The Weather Underground, Wings of Desire, Short Cuts, Brazil, 12 Monkeys, Wonder Boys (also a great book), anything starring Howard Zinn, Noam Chomsky or Michael Moore (yes, he's hyperbolic at times but still well informed/informing; I've seen all of them speak, several times, they are/we're wonderful.), Ice Storm, American Beauty, The Royal Tennebaums (Bottle Rocket is a very close second to favorite Wes Anderson), Paprika, Spirited Away... the list goes on and on.

Music: Miles Davis, Sonic Youth, Pixies, Velvet Underground, Elliott Smith, Portishead, The Smiths, Bob Dylan, Elvis Costello, Thelonious Monk, John Coltrane, Mccoy Tyner, Wilco, Radiohead, Talking Heads, Pink Floyd, Kristin Hersh, Modest Mouse, Beck, Bongwater, Camper Van Beethoven, Violent Femmes, Neil Young, David Bowie, Green Day, Steve Earl, Robyn Hitchcock, Liz Phair, The Replacements, The Shins, REM, Mazzy Star, My Bloody Valentine, Interpol, Franz Ferdinand, Jimi Hendrix... and about a million others.

Reading: News/views from Huff Post, Common Dreams or Alternet. Something by Gore Vidal, Marge Piercy, Barbara Kingsolver, George Orwell, Kurt Vonnegut, Mark Twain, Ursula K. Leguin, John Irving, David Korten, Naomi Klein, Robert Fisk, Paul Krugman, Robert Reich, Juan Cole, Chris Hedges, Barbara Ehrenreich, Neal Gaimon, Barry Lopez, Wendell Berry, Howard Zinn, Chalmers Johnson, Margaret Atwood, William Gibson... Anything with a post-apocalyptic theme to it. Most things political.

Food: Localvorian, Thai, Mexican, Chinese, Italian, Indian, pizza. I love trying new ethnic cuisines I also love creative cooking with or without any ethnic ties.

I watch an incredibly small amount of television, most of it very sporadically online, so this includes a lot of classics: Daily Show, Colbert Report, Fringe, Arrested Development, BSG, Torchwood, Twin Peaks, Breaking Bad, Monty Pythons Flying Circus, Mr. Show, Firefly, Buffy the Vampire Slayer (yes, I'm a nerd, so shoot me) and a couple others I can't remember the names of.
