My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Quick caveat: if you are looking for casual sex, short term dating, or FWBs, I would prefer you not contact me. There's nothing wrong with those things, I just don't happen to have any current interest in those types of situations. If you'd like to possibly make a platonic friend or potential long term partner, feel free to peruse my profile and give me a ping if what I'm about resonates with you. :-)

I am a life long learner who is curious about the world. I am interested in all sorts of different, all kinds of music, movies, books, science, philosophy. I most readily identify with Buddhist philosophy of living every moment with awareness (although I am not always so good at that) and am a member a wonderful local sangha . I am nerdy and goofy. I am just as happy going to a lecture about cosmology as I am dancing around at the Solstice Parade.

I love to laugh. If you can make me laugh, that is amazing. I especially like British comedy - Eddie Izzard, Monty Python, The IT Crowd, Simon Peg and Nick Frost and so on.

I am happy, friendly, and curious
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I am trying to learn as much as I can, be as happy as I can, love as much as I can and celebrate life as much as I can. Sounds a bit cheesy but it is true. I try to live each moment with supreme awareness and compassion. I spend much time and thought trying to help others and be joyful.

I am also very keen to meet a wonderful person, fall in love with and create a life together. I spent much of my younger days enjoying my freedom but would very much like to settle down now. I don't need a conventional relationship or even marriage per se, but I have much love to share and want to find someone to share it with.

Characteristics I value in a potential partner are honesty (with himself and others); the ability to communicate (or the very strong desire to learn) clearly his feelings, wants and needs; flexibility; A fundamentally positive outlook on life and people; openess to all manner of experiences, feelings, learning, ways of being; holding Buddhist values (whether or not he identifies that way) of cultivating self awareness, compassion, interconnectedness, non-judgmental seeing, non-attachment to expectations, embracing change and flux (like we can do anything to stop it anyway) and an ability to live fully and freely in the present. I don't expect a person to be perfect in all these ways (heck, I'm far from it myself), but rather to have a strong desire to cultivate them in his life. I realize that there is always a gap between how we ideally want to be in the world and the reality of a person in any given moment.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Learning and laughing. Putting together Ikea furniture (I love it! It's very Zen for me). Knowing the words to an inordinate amount if songs. Being fascinated and/or awed by simple and/or fairly mundane things (or what others might see as simple and mundane). Reading maps and finding my way. Exploring Seattle and/or any town I happen to be in. Finding humor in almost any situation.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
• my infectious energy
• my childlike wonder
• my penchant for laughter
• my compulsion to say hi to all dogs i walk by

Some quotes I like:

A human being is a part of a whole, called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest...a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty. -Einstein

This is my simple religion. There is no need for temples; no need for complicated philosophy. Our own brain, our own heart is our temple; the philosophy is kindness." - His Holiness the Dalai Lama

To be fully alive, fully human, and completely awake is to be continually thrown out of the nest.

The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
learning, loved ones, growth, inspiration, laughter and the dharma
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
How to live in the moment, be more mindful and ways to enjoy life. The Dharma, meditation, how to embody my values.

Course there's also the world, art, culture, how to laugh more, how to be more fully in my body, how to be more present, how to love without expectations, how to be a better listener and communicator, how to find that person that will open my eyes to new things, love my quirky made up songs, let me be there for him, find me unique, like that i cry at silly touching commercials, and with whom I connect on a real level.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Depends really..

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
• you have joie de vivre
• you want to openly explore ideas about life, sex, philosophy, science, communication, relationships
• you genuinely want to connect with another person whether on just a human, friend or romantic level
• you just want to have coffee. No need for any high pressure, first date, can-I-see-myself-with-this-person-romatically nonsense (I am open to meeting all manner of new friends and/or potential partners. I don't want to limit my interactions only to those people with whom I sense romantic possibilities. I would value the chance to meet a new friend with whom I can learn and develop myself)
• you've read this far and haven't been completely turned off by my well intentioned yet quite verbose profile :-)
