I grew up in Canada. It's beautiful and I miss it. I have lived and traveled all over the US and Mexico; I've been in San Diego for a year and a half and I love it. My friends would describe me as a loud mouth with a kind heart. I care deeply about the condition of other humans, and lend a hand where I can. Someone once called me a 'natural anthropologist', that is, I love to people watch aaaand sometimes I take notes on interesting things I see and hear. Lightweight creep.

Kindness, humor, intelligence, and a sense of wonder are important to me. I have seen the northern lights and that excites me-- the natural world is so cool. I ask a lot of questions. I'm interested in everyone's story.

Also, I'm fat. That's a big deal for some dudes, I get it. I'm awesome and I love myself so don't bother if you're not down, eh?

I came out west to continue my studies in the field of Latin American migration. I'm taking a short hiatus, and am currently working in a flower shop!

Books: I really like all types of non-fiction (creative and ethnographic especially), and popular science. Into the Beautiful North, Mountains Beyond Mountains, Holler If You Hear Me, Caramelo, Random Family, Harriet the Spy, Handmaid's Tale, In the Time of the Butterflies, My American Unhappiness, Arcadia, Notes From No Man's Land.

I read the New York Times and the Sunday crossword is my nemesis, I have never finished it. YET.

TV: Daily Show, BBC's Planet Earth, Breaking Bad, Parks and Recreation, Sons of Anarchy, The Walking Dead, Portlandia, Ohio State football.
