I’m contradictory at times. I’m a city mouse, but I sometimes dream of living in the country. I have strong views about some things, but I love nothing more than a conversation that prompts me to see something in a new light.
By day, I’m a freelance writer. In a given week, I might chat with a neuroscientist, a peace activist, a tech innovator, and an architect who’s renovating a 100-year-old home. I’m a curious creature, and I’m lucky to have a working life that encourages that.
In my downtime, you might find me hiking, hitting a film festival with friends, dropping in on some Nerd Nite-esque event, or trying to figure out how California went from being on the verge of financial ruin to projecting a surplus in just a matter of weeks.
I also like to create things. Last year, I learned how to make hand-blocked felt and straw hats. Now, I’m learning how to draft patterns so I can design my own clothes.
I have been trapped beneath the ice in a Minnesota lake, been shaken out of bed in a house struck by lightning, and emerged unscathed from a car that flipped over a few times, so I’m fairly indestructible.
I love politics, European roadsters, and sweater weather. I believe in freedom, justice, and the power of chocolate.
I’ve never been someone who rushes into a relationship just for the sake of being in one. But when I find someone I connect with, I’m a good partner. I appreciate the male perspective, I don’t sweat the small stuff, and I won’t make you watch romcoms.
Having said that, I’m a hopeful romantic in search of a meaningful relationship. If you have a brain and sense of humor, I might be in trouble. If you also have a great smile … well, that’s just cruel.
