My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm a kinda-geeky, kinda-nerdy type. I used to be really into anime and manga (it still has a special place in my heart), but have since moved more into western fandom and board-gaming. I also read quite a bit.
The first things people usually notice about me

O.o
I have no Idea. I'd never ask someone "what's the first thing you notice about me?" It'd be a weird (and self-centered!) question to ask, wouldn't it? And it's not something people volunteer, anyway.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books:
I love to read. It's something that has always been fun for me, and my favorites have always been in the more fantastical genres.
My favorite author is Neil Gaiman (long may he write), and my favorite book series is the Temeraire Series by Naomi Novik. The book I most liked this year that I hadn't read before (I like revisiting stories too) was Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell by Susanna Clarke (I could not put that book down. Not for anything.). I also have a nasty fan-fiction reading habit that I haven't been able to kick in *counts* oh... thirteen years? Fourteen years? Yeah...

TV/Movies:
I have to start this section by thanking the BBC for making awesome shows like Doctor Who (<3), Sherlock, Being Human (It sounds *so* cliche, but they take those tired old tropes and make them awesome again.), and Survivors (It gave me nightmares, but it's so good).
Dead Like Me is probably one of my favorite TV shows ever(more than Buffy even), if you haven't watched it, you really should. Lately I've been having a bit of fun by revisiting one of my favorite anime series, Hikaru no Go. It only sounds like the most boring anime ever, and it streams in Japanese, ^_^!

Food:
I don't think I'm picky. I just like really good food. That's not spicy. Or too creamy. (Hollandaise, mayo, ranch, tartar sauce... no) Also, not bitter. (No arugula, or olives)
But really I'll usually eat it as long as it's not burned (raw is just fine, thanks.) I like American, Chinese, Mexican, Thai, Japanese, Cambodian, Italian, and plenty others I can't come up with at the moment. I'm willing to try others too. As long as it's good.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
My friends. (The whole reason I got into board-gaming was so I could meet people, and it has been so good for my sanity.)

My family. (because I love them, and they're also sanity conducive. I'm lucky that way. Some people's families make them crazy.)

My computer. (How would I ever lurk the internet, find good fan-fiction, watch netfix, or do light gaming (And that does not mean Farmville) without it?)

My phone. (I lived with a sub-standard phone, for 9 months, and it was like going back to the dark ages!)

Yummy food and/or dessert. (Sushi, coffee, chocolate... I'll never be skinny, I like food too much)

Sleep. (yes, I'm putting that here.)
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Well... Some Friday nights I work... We'll just say that the nights I have off one might find me playing boardgames with friends or curled up with a good story(in print or on the web), or lurking the internet.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm very seriously considering polyamory as a lifestyle choice.
