My self-summary
Remember when myspace was cool, and everyone got to have a song on their page? In the spirit of internet nostalgia, here's my profile song, for your listening pleasure:

I'm often described as a Robin Scherbatsky-Liz Lemon hybrid.
What I’m doing with my life
I am currently a student in my last term of undergrad, and I'm hoping to end up working for either the US or UK government after graduation.

I was born and raised in the midwest; however, I now split my time between San Diego and Seattle. I'm looking for any excuse to fly back down to spend time with my family and close friends who still live in Southern California.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
*Disclaimer: None of these lists are intended to be comprehensive in nature.

Books: I love information of all sorts, so I'm always reading something - more often than not, it's non-fiction.

Otherwise, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (Douglas Adams) has been my favorite book for as long as I can remember - it will always remind me of my childhood. My other favorites are The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Into the Wild (Jon Krakauer), The Picture of Dorian Gray (Oscar Wilde), and The Great Gatsby (F. Scott Fitzgerald). I also love historical biographies (specifically, United States Presidents).

Music: I tend to gravitate to alternative rock. As a general statement, in my opinion, the time period between 1960 and 1990 (in Britain, specifically) was very kind to music.
To name some of my favorites: Fleetwood Mac, R.E.M. (September 21st, 2011 was an extremely emotional day for me), The Beatles, The Jam, Oasis, The Clash, Radiohead, Donovan, Simon and Garfunkel, The Decemberists, Neutral Milk Hotel, Tom Petty, James Taylor, Beck, and a smattering of more recent stuff.

Movies: Pulp Fiction is my all-time favorite movie- I never pass up an opportunity to watch it. Also, I am hopelessly in love with Star Wars (as the username might suggest). A few favorites: Notting Hill, The Graduate, Grosse Point Blank, The Life Aquatic, Annie Hall, High Fidelity, and Garden State.
Directors: Wes Anderson, Quentin Tarantino, Woody Allen
Fun Fact: Watching Kill Bill is my go-to remedy for a bad mood.

Shows: The West Wing, House of Cards, How I Met Your Mother, Colbert and Stewart, 30 Rock, Parks and Rec, Arrested Development, Game of Thrones, and Mad Men.

Food: I love Italian, Seafood, and I'm usually game to try new things that aren't too crazy exotic. Honestly, my all-time favorite food is macaroni and cheese; I know, that's the typical answer you'd expect hear from the average 5 year old, but that doesn't make me love it any less.

I like my Whisky and Scotch neat, and I like my beers dark and strong (stouts, porters and IPAs). In general, I've never had a beer that I didn't enjoy.
The six things I could never do without
The Beatles once said, "All you need is love."^1

Footnote 1: The Beatles. "All You Need Is Love." Rec. 14, 19-26 June 1967. Magical Mystery Tour. Parlophone, 1967. CD.
On a typical Friday night I am
I'm a homebody at heart; a lot of my Friday nights usually feature a good book, a movie, or streaming something on Netflix.

However, I do love a good night out. The dive-ier the bar, the larger the selection of beer, or the more nostalgic the music choices the better.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have dressed up as Princess Leia and Hermione Granger on multiple occasions.

I also have a bit of a weakness for Englishmen and redheads.
I’m looking for
  • Guys who like girls
  • Ages 22–30
  • Located anywhere
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, short-term dating
You should message me if
" like pina coladas and getting caught in the rain."^2

Footnote 2: Holmes, Rupert. "Escape (Pina Colada Song)." Rec. 1979. Rupert Holmes. Rupert Holmes, Jim Boyer, 1979. CD.

In all seriousness, if you'd like to go beer tasting, scotch drinking, or to a show, I'd love to hear from you!

I tend to only respond to messages with substantial content; I'm not asking for an essay, but "heyyyyyyy" doesn't constitute something I deem worthy of a response. Also, knowing the difference between "your" and "you're" and "there," "their," and "they're" is a must.
