I am doing, fine, and thanks.

My Self-Summary

People have told me that I’m smart, creative and amiable, and funny. That said, I can be a little bit on the introverted side and I have a pretty dry and sarcastic sense of humor that sometimes can take some warming up to. People also tell me that I’m a nice guy and I sometimes wonder if they mean that as a complement. I can work on being on more of a jerk if you like that sort of thing...

Although Dallas isn't my dream city, East Dallas has really grown on me more than I ever thought it would. It’s enough like Austin that it keeps me from getting sad when thinking about my time at UT. I have found it to be a little difficult to find women in Dallas that I have enough in common with that aren’t already dating one of my friends. If I get desperate, I suppose I could venture uptown, put on a striped shirt and dangle some BMW keys out of my front pocket. For now, I’m just going to try out this online dating thing.

It would be nice to find someone with at least somewhat similar taste in music, movies, TV, etc. The same also goes for worldview, political philosophy, values etc. Extra bonus if your travel to-do list includes some of the same destinations as mine does. I have accrued quite a bit of vacation time at my job and need an excuse to go see some new places - preferably places that require a passport.

Music is important to me. I play guitar, bass and a little bit of drums and piano. I write and play with friends, but I'm not that guy who spends all of his spare time with a shitty band that will never get anywhere. I'm a realist and so I just spend a couple hours a week with my shitty band that will never get anywhere.

My taste in music ranges from The Kinks to The Talking Heads to Pavement, to Miles Davis to James Brown to Clinic to Caribou to Clap Your Hands Say Yeah to many others. I’m completely guilty of being a music snob and need to be told to lighten-up on occasion.

I sometimes work a lot which comes with the territory of being a consultant. I do value my free time though and I try not to let work devour my soul. I try to take at least decent care of myself by exercising in some capacity several times a week. I have to say I appreciate it if you are someone who at least makes an effort to stay in decent shape…

Ultimately I would like to meet someone who I could spend a lot of time with but who would allow me to have time to myself and time with my friends too. As with most things, balance is key.
