I am open-minded, adventurous,, and communicative.
My Self-Summary
First and foremost I'm a people-person. I'm not shy, I enjoy
meeting new people and doing new things. Honesty, honor, and
integrity are very important to me.
I like
fine food and wines, to
cook,
travel,
writeand
read. My most interesting hobbies include
historical re-creation of the
middle ages and belly dancing. I
don't play a musical instrument, although I love most types of
music from
Gothic/Industrial to Celtic, to Classical, to jazz (favorite local
performer is Stephanie Porter, international is Molly Johnson). I
enjoy the
theater
and
ballet,
including experimental theater. I'm a
non-smoker and date same for health
reasons, social drinker, never been married (have lived with a long
term partner), no kids. The thing that I cannot stand is a
hypocrite.
My favorite quote is "I believe in karma what you give is what you
get returned." I'm a Libra if you care about such things. I believe
in the adage of "work hard, play hard." I have friends that belong
to every conceivable walk of life and lifestyle, from
fundamentalist Christians, to professional doms, to the poly
community; I am open-minded, but am only interested in monogamous
romantic relationships (and just interesting folks to hang with!).
I have an interest in magical systems and the unseen world,
reflected in my writing and reading choices. (I'm working on a
vampire novel.) I am cordial terms with most everyone I have ever
dated; I believe friendship is the key to *every* good
relationship.
I don't like to play games in relationships. People should have
their own interests and life, but be flexible enough to share. If
something is wrong, tell me. When something bothers me, I speak up.
Communication is crucial to a healthy respect between people.
Anything else you want to know, just ask. I'm pretty up front, I
believe in asking questions.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a recruiter by day, and an award-winning
writer by night working on my first
novel, in the vampire genre and a non-fiction book on how to write
a resume.
I’m really good at
Connecting with people at lots of different levels (it makes me a
good recruiter) and knowing how to put someone at ease. I can find
common ground to have conversations with almost everyone.
Trying new things. If I have the time, I'll intentionally "get
lost" just to see where the road goes. Maybe I'll find a great new
restaurant or shop. But it's just as important to say "the heck
with it, let's do it!" as it is to plan and execute.
The first things people usually notice about me
Smile and my eyes (or, uh, other things if my top is low-cut enough
;). Once someone starts talking to me, they usually find that I'm
very easy to talk to and that I have a lot of interests that make
it fun to spend time with me. I like learning about people. In 2007
I had a conversation in Paris with someone about the differences in
roofing materials and techniques in the US and Europe...we spoke in
a mix of English and French. If you don't ask, you don't learn.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
(A) The Delicate Dependency by Michael Talbot; The Lions of
Al-Rassan and Fionavar Tapestry by Guy Gavriel Kay; The Kushiel
trilogies by Jacqueline Carey; The Noble Dead Sagas by Barb and JC
Hendee; anything by Charles de Lint or Anne McCaffrey. (B) So hard
to choose. The Hunger, Pulp Fiction, The Fifth Element, The Game,
Troy, the Star Trek, Star Wars, Tolkien, and Highlander movies
EXCEPT 3 and The Source). I would also have to count Ferris
Bueller's Day off as an all-time favorite. I generally prefer
SciF/fantasy, action, crime drama, romance/chick flicks (I have
plenty of girlfriends to go with ;),psychological thrillers, comedy
(good comedy, not stupid stuff like Ace Ventura: Pet Detective.) I
don't like gory horror, but I do obviously like vampire-genre
films. A happy ending isn't necessary if the plot is good. Favorite
TV shows that are off the air include Forever Knight, Firefly,
SG-1, all the Star Trek series, Charmed, Highlander, Kindred: the
Embraced, Oz, Blood Ties, Moonlight, Frasier. Current: I like SVU,
Monk, House. I guess I also like crime drama , as well. Looking
forward to checking out Moonlight. I preferred Angel to Buffy when
they were on the air. (C) Gothic/Steampunk (ever heard Abney
Park?...) Celtic (both traditional and modern, love Heather
Alexander), world music (Children of the Revolution), indie and
indie pop, folk music, "Classic Rock", jazz (I *love* Molly
Johnson), classical. I don't like *most* rap, religious music,
hip-hop or country. (D) Almost anything that doesn't have seafood
or mushrooms in it. I love a good steak and trying new ethnic
varieties. I have lots of friends that are vegetarian/vegan/gluten
intolerant, so I try lots of new things. I made a gluten-free
chocolate decadence last year that was a big hit. I'm toying with
collaborating on a cookbook with one of my Celiac friends. I DO eat
meat.
The six things I could never do without
Access to a shower or bath. Some of my favorite books. The
knowledge that my friends and family are well and healthy. The
freedom to speak my mind without fear from my government. Believing
that the world can always be a better place and that people DO
care. Knowing that one person CAN make a difference in the life of
another.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
My purpose here in the grand scheme of things. How I can be a good
friend to those in my life. What an amazing difference technology
has made in our lives in the last ten years. Plot and character
development. How the decisions I've made have led me down the road
less traveled.
On a typical Friday night I am
Watching the SciFi channel or USA network, reading or working on my
book, spending time with friends, or going to my favorite Goth
club. It's not unknown for me to stay out until the wee hours; a
great conversation is always something I pursue.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
Ah, c'mon, let's keep some of the mystery alive ;)
You should message me if
You are open minded and enjoy trying new things. If you think I
sound interesting. I'm open to new friends to do things with.
