I am out, st, and ing.

My Self-Summary

I moved to NYC from Dublin, Ireland three years ago. I'm a big music lover, like to play guitar, see live music, listen to new stuff. Indie alternative kinda guy. I like to read weird physics books, travel, drink good beers and play disc golf

What I’m doing with my life

I moved to nyc around a few years ago because I was bored with my life in Ireland and needed stimulation and a new start. I used to be a lawyer there, but it wasn't for me. My school's career guidance counselor didn't warn me that a dislike of rules and lack of attention to detail were drawbacks in the legal profession.

So I moved here and ended up opening a music rehearsal studio in greenpoint, mostly as a result of playing in bands and not being able to find ones I liked in the right area. Then this year I opened one in williamsburg. I'm opening a bar too. I find this all very amusing, since I'm not all that driven.

Also I play in a band. If you're interested in listening (and I know you're not) you can hear some tunes at myspace.com/sportofkingsrock.

I’m really good at

buying sneakers, scrabble, playing songs on my guitar, trying new things, drinking redwine (edit: recently white), exploring, vocal harmonies.

The first things people usually notice about me

Possibly my array of glasses, but I'll ask some people and get back to you on this one.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Favorite Music: indie, guitars, hooks and angles. Moderate noise is optional, Pavement, Ween, Captain Beefheart, Acetone, Beach Boys, Neil Young, Silver Jews, Pixies, Sonic Youth, Steely Dan, jazz, John Coltrane, Van Dyke Parks, Smog, polvo, Sleater-Kinney, CSNY, Cornelius, Can, Thelonious Monk, Sun Ra, Olivia Tremor Control, devo, sebadoh.

Favorite Movies: Any Woody Allen, but defintiely Manhattan, Rushmore, The Five Obstructions and most Lars Von Trier, the Big Lebowski, Dazed and Confused, Kubrick, american splendor, Grosse Point Blank, Freddie Got Fingered, Happiness of the Katakuris.

Favorite Books: Already Dead by Denis Johnson, Robert Pirsig, Bukowski, Murikami, Robert Anton Wilson, Physics books, middlesex, pynchon.

Food: Indian, Mexican, super hot and spicy = good times.

The six things I could never do without

music, friends, guitars, bike ,microbrews, thetans

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Why haven't I camped on the beach recently? With my boyfriend. And had amazing sex. During a thunderstorm.

On a typical Friday night I am

generally with friends, maybe at a bar, at someone's house, sometimes at a show if there's a good band on.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I once beat a hobo to death with a shovel.

You should message me if

You find me interesting, share some of my interests, love music, consider yourself creative, smart, kind and emotionally available. Or none of those things, I'm easy.

I'm also especially interested in meeting guys who do outdoorsy stuff including, but not limited to: camping, biking, hiking etc. Or disc golf, but nobody even knows what that is around here.
