I am kind, eclectic, and intellectual.

My Self-Summary

I never know quite how to answer these things, because how do you sum yourself up in a few paragraphs?

The more obvious statements about me are already up on the site, so I'm trying to figure out what to say otherwise. I guess one of the things I really shouldn't let define me, but ends up doing so anyway, is that I'm not really an outgoing person, at least not from the get-go. I think about what I say very, very hard, and if it doesn't sound perfect in my head, I probably won't say it at all.

That being said, if I'm comfortable around people it's a whole different ballgame. Because if I'm comfortable around you, I will be a complete and utter dork. I really, really love books. I will pretty much carry a book EVERYWHERE, because it's one way I know I'll never be bored. I'm mostly into fantasy and science fiction, but I'll read just about anything. I've been known to pick up a kid's book or even a pamphlet for something if it's on hand. I'm also very much a creative person. I write a bunch of fiction (and someday, god willing, I will finish a story) and even if I'm not writing I'm probably coming up with characters in my head.

I flatter myself that I'm fairly intelligent. I like having serious discussions just as much as I like talking about TV shows. Although I do not have the wiring to do math. I just. Can't. I am a humanities major and proud of it!

What I’m doing with my life

I'm not entirely sure! I just graduated college, and am drifting around until I hear back from the Peace Corps and/or settle down to a job. Whatever happens.

I just moved to Boston, so I'm settling in to life here, and working at the newly-opened Stuart Street Playhouse. Which you should check out if you are into indie/foreign films. No really.

I’m really good at

being a shoulder to cry on, writing (or at least I like to think so), reading, being creative, keeping myself busy

The first things people usually notice about me

...Uh...that I'm far too skinny for my own good? The fact that my hair no longer will eat Tokyo. And also that it's cute. I think.

The fact that I am blindingly white. It will never change.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

...This is going to be a long, long set of lists.

The six things I could never do without

A book to read

My iPod

A computer

Good friends to talk to

My copy of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead

My parents

I spend a lot of time thinking about

school, what I'm currently reading, what I've read in the past, why Russian grammar must be so damn complex, sexuality (the concept but mostly thinking about my own), why I seem to have entire Broadway soundtracks in my head on shuffle, why "college" and "drama" are practically interchangeable words, this one multi-fandom lj RP I follow and would love to join, characters from my stories, knitting

On a typical Friday night I am

Hanging out with my friends and watching TV, and knitting. Which is so much better than a wild party.

Alternately, if I'm in the Bay Area, probably doing something crazy with my friends. We wind up in the Marin Headlands. A lot.

That or serving popcorn and/or selling tickets, because Friday night is just one of those nights that everyone seems to be scheduled.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'm really frightened that even if I meet the right person, I'm not going to be able to recognize it and will end up pushing them away.

You should message me if

You're willing to take the time to get to know me. I'm a little shy and a little self conscious, but I think it's worth it.

Also, if you're interested in any of the same movies/books/tv shows/bands as I am, I absolutely adore geeking out over things that I like with people, it's one of the greatest pleasures in life.

As a side note (and I'm NOT saying not to message me if you aren't the same way), as I've noted before A LOT of who I am has to do with being very literary. I'm marginally into politics, kinda into music, but am COMPLETELY into books. So if you're someone who doesn't read often for pleasure, keep that in mind!

On that note (of a side note?), if you have new authors/series to introduce me to! I'm always looking to broaden my horizons when it comes to books. College did a good job of that for the most part, but there's a ton of stuff out there, and I might not get to it all on my own.

Also, I don't respond well to woos, it seems like a major cop-out to me.
