I am open, sardonic, and honest.

My Self-Summary

My most salient personality trait is that I’m an outgoing introvert. I like going out, but not all the time. It took me a lot of years of singing in the car to get up the nerve to do karaoke (the commuters on I-25 were my audience), but now that I do it, I really enjoy it, and I’m always looking forward to it. I hadn’t done any dancing since I used to go clubbing in San Diego in the 90s, but now I’m taking dance lessons in Tango and Swing and I’m really enjoying it. Anyway, you get the picture.

I’d like to travel more, but I’m not big on touristy things – I prefer to go somewhere and just look around. My favorite place to visit, by far, is San Diego. You should be aware that I have a guy crush on Stephen Colbert. I’m not liberal though – I’m actually moderate and generally enjoy talking to people of both parties even if they’re extreme about their positions (though I doubt I could handle talking to Glenn Beck).

I'm interested in meeting people who I enjoy talking to and with whom I share interests (e. g. karaoke, dancing, etc.). I do have two children and I will continue to be an awesome and dependable father. I am separated - no chance of getting back together, but you should be aware (hmm....that sounded a little to close to "beware"). Any questions about that, just ask.

In any kind of relationship, I most value openness, honesty, introspection, and humor. I’m not big on playing games (well, the relationship kind, that is. Frogger is okay). I have a chronic case of dry sense of humor that has vehemently resisted all attempts of removal.

What I’m doing with my life

I have two MS degrees, and someday I hope to find an internet site that will allow me to trade them for a PhD. I work as an engineer and manager in the laser industry. Don't ask if we do laser light shows to Pink Floyd - we don't. More than likely, we'd burn a hole though the drum set.

I’m really good at

Devoting a large portion of my brain storage to lyrics. Sometimes I wonder what I'm forgetting so that I can remember the words to songs by The Veronicas, but obviously I have no chance of figuring that out.

The first things people usually notice about me

I'm usually pretty shy around new people - I have to work hard to seem like I'm not.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

BOOKS - I go through phases. For a while it was the classics (Tolstoy, Dickens, etc.); then it was Tom Clancy-ish stuff (which strangely, I can't stand anymore); then historical fication (Michener, Uris, Vidal); then Sci-Fi (Herbert, Card, Heinlein). Now I'm into paranormal fantasy like Jim Butcher, Charlaine Harris, and Stephenie Meyer. It makes me feel a little embarrased to admit since I'm not a teenage girl, but I *really* liked the Twilight series.

MOVIES - Top Gun, Aladdin, Nightmare Before Christmas, Young Einstein, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, 10 Things I Hate About You, Beetlejuice, Dream a Little Dream, Men in Black, Rudy

MUSIC - Anything Box, Depeche Mode, Erasure, B-52s, Bee Gees, Bruce Hornsby, Various Disco, Cars, Electric Light Orchestra, Various Funk, Fleetwood Mac, Most things 80s, Gin Blossoms, Goo Goo Dolls, Goldfrapp, Green Day, INXS, Johnny Clegg, Maroon 5, Offspring, Save Ferris, Sigue Sigue Sputnik, Toad the Wet Sprocket, U2, Vertical Horizon. And a lot more. I'm easy to please when it comes to music (Barry Manilow to Metallica to Beethoven)

KARAOKE - I like singing Maroon 5, Green Day, B-52s, and more recently OAR and Bowling for Soup

FOOD - Thai

TV - My favorite TV shows tend to be irreverent comedy like Arrested Development, Chuck, and Better Off Ted.

The six things I could never do without

My kids
My computer
Good fiction
Dallas Cowboys
80s music
Karaoke
... not necessarily in that order

I spend a lot of time thinking about

The Dallas Cowboys
Life
The universe
The meaning of the Dallas Cowboys
When I can go to karaoke again
The emotional health of my children
Being a good dad

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I have wondered if I'm a Romosexual, and I like The Veronicas. Usually not at the same time though.

UPDATE: The most asked question I get, by far, is what Romosexual means. Don't worry, it's a joke, but a good one if you know anything about football, so you should google it.

You should message me if

You're not freaked out by the separated thing.
