My self-summary Propose an edit
Hi,
My name is Phil and I am a 22 year old English major with an emphasis on
creative writing. I love to browse web-comics and want to one day
write my own comic,
or possibly work on a television show.I enjoy comic books and am fascinated
by the superhero genera and love when people tackle it in a new
way.
I'm kind of a nerd I guess, if that isn't obvious by now. I've also
been called a huge dork, but in quite lovable ways.
I'm in a kind of transitional phase of my life I guess you could
say. I recently got out of a long term, long distance relationship
and am going to graduate from college soon (hopefully). I'm using
this time to really change things I don't exactly like about
myself. I'm trying to be more active and drop a few pant sizes, and
trying to better myself intellectually.
I really enjoy going out and trying to have some fun, camping, and
trying to catch a movie. There's not a whole lot I'm not down for,
and I'm not really ashamed of anything I've done so if you have any
questions don't hesitate to ask.
I live in San Marcos, but don't mind driving to see my friends.
Most of the people I know live in Austin and I don't even consider
that a hassle to get to anymore.
What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit
The main thing is college. I'm really looking forward to graduation
and starting my career. With any luck I should be out by May of
'09, or maybe some summer classes to fill in anything I
missed.
Like I said before, I'm trying to turn some things around for
myself. Organize my life a little, clean out my trunk, maybe hit
the gym (I don't like other people watching me work out though, so
maybe not) and read more.
Hopefully I'll land this internship with a publishing company and
that will lead to something bigger and better once I'm out of
college. If things just aren't looking too good here I recently
obtained a teaching certificate for teaching English in other
countries. If all else fails I can always teach English in Dubai
and make fat stacks of cash.
I'm really good at Propose an edit
I'm really good at making people laugh. I pride myself on being a
good friend and being there for people when they need me. I think I
can tell a decent story and can ask pretty good hypothetical
questions.
I can also wiggle my ears.
The first thing(s) people usually notice about me Propose an edit
Physically: I'm kind of a big dude. I have *amazing* eyes and I
love to wear flip flops, shorts and a T-shirt. The shirt is
probably a peace sign (or maybe superman) which has gotten people
under the impression that I smoke pot. It's weird I guess. I don't
have anything against it, I just have shitty lungs to start with
and don't want to risk messing them up any more than I have
to.
Non-physical: I can be a little quiet around people I don't know.
That's always been a steady criticism of me. I personally think I'm
getting better, but you'd have to meet me to find out!
My favorite books, movies, music, and food Propose an edit
book- Pillars of the earth, lots of comic books like Walking Dead
and Fables
movie- too many to chose from. I'll go with Seven Samurai for now.
Anything that tells a good story is aces in my book. Character
development is best when told through the characters actions, so
anything where people are doing things. Also, Die hard. All of
them.
music- little bit of everything, been listening to jay-z a lot
lately. I really like Red Hot Chilli peppers
and a lot of other mellow bands like killers, strokes, and I've
been getting more into the blues recently.
Have you ever seen High Fadelaty? You know how Jack Black and those
guys knew a lot about music and had favorite bands no one has ever
heard of? I'm the exact opposite of that. I don't know bands. I
just listen to whatever and if I like it try to take note of who it
is.
food- Italian food. If you're in Dallas go to Taste of Italy and
fill up on the rolls and salad. THANK ME LATER. Chinese food is
great too. If anyone is in San Marcos and knows where to get good
dumplings PLEASE TELL ME. I'll totally treat you to some if you
just tell me where to go.
The six things I could never do without Propose an edit
Music for starters. I couldn't imagine not being able to hear my
favorite songs ever again.
movies is up there too. I love anything that can actually make me
cry or at least come close to it.
comic books are a biggie for me. Its just such a good escape for
me. I love reading about all these fascinating characters in these
wild adventures that are being presented to you in ways that your
average novel just can't quite capture.
Human Interaction- I love being around people. I don't always have
much to say but I love *LOVE* to listen to other people tell
stories. I like listening to other people debate something. I can
just sit there and absorb what they're saying and reflect on it
myself.
A good drink- I love drinking. Now, let me clarify that. I don't
mean I love getting drunk (though it is fun) I mean it can be
anything from a good beer, to a cold Dr. Pepper to some good
lemonade. I just love having a good drink no matter what it is.
Well, except Coffe and tea. I can't stand those for some
reason.
A good place to sleep- Sleep is important to me. I can take a nap,
get 40 winks, sleep all night and sleep all day. I really like to
pile up on pillows and get a nice blanket and get up feeling great
the next day.
I spend a lot of time thinking about Propose an edit
Man, seriously? Zombie attacks. One of these days I'm just going to
get a notebook and some maps and prepare some type of plan just so
I can go a week without thinking "man, if zombies attacked me now
I'd be screwed"
I also think a lot about how I'd write for superhero comics.
There's a lot of events I'd like to do for a lot of different
heroes. Like Batman? I want to have a small story where he loses
all of his money, or at least is in real jeopardy of losing all of
his money. I want to see him have to actively choose not to track
down a killer on the loose because he has a board meeting tomorrow.
I want to have him have to sacrifice doing the right thing now, so
he'll have the funding and backing to do the right thing
later.
Man, I just totally nerded this profile up didn't I? Shit. ummm...
I think a lot about cars! and guns! and uh that sporting team that
uses cars and guns? I guess I'm talking about some weird mix of
Nascar and skeet shooting? Man, I'd watch that.
HA! shit I just realized I should have seen Deathrace with that guy
who always gets stuck in crappy action flicks.
On a typical Friday night I am Propose an edit
Typical Friday night (or weekend I guess I should say) I'm usually
hanging out with my friends. I like to go out, I like to camp, I
like to watch movies, I like to channel surf with Anthony or go to
Taco Cabanna with Nick or talk it up with Sean. Anything is fare
game if you ask me.
I'll admit, that now that it's starting to get colder I prefer to
stay in more. Rent a movie, play a board game (seriously, I need to
play RISK soon) play some video games things like that. I'm still
usually down for anything else.
The most private thing I'm willing to admit here Propose an edit
There's two I'm willing to share.
1) I'm afraid of high places. I hate the sensation of falling and
can get vertigo pretty easily. I still went to the top of the
Eiffel Tower though, so it's not like it's a paralyzing fear. Just
don't expect me to go rock climbing or sky diving. Like ever.
2) I talk to myself. It just helps me keep my thoughts in order
sometimes. People love it for playing RISK or Poker because I
mutter my strategy to myself.
