My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm creative, easy-going, and passionate about learning. One thing I can say about being a generalist, is that it can be tough in a culture of specialists, but as sci-fi author Heinlein said, "specialization is for insects". I'm happy I've learned to bake a pie, lay baseboards, write a song, and start a business.

I'm also a optimist. Sometimes I have to fight hard to keep this outlook, but this attitude has served me well so I'm holding on.

I'm a loyal friend and my friends are akin to my family. I am always available to them; for comfort, hugs, or chocolate. I am a transplant from South Carolina, and though my accent has faded, my hospitality and smiles still shine. :)

I've experienced much beauty in the world, whether I was teaching English and blond jokes in Guadalajara, gazing over green rice fields in Kerala, India, singing to opulent red poppies on the Camino de Santiago, or decoding the full white moon hanging over the Yellowstone River. In short, I love travel, and I always see something beautiful when I do.

Also, I like to have fun! I can be a little crass, and sometimes a little edgy. I really enjoy making others laugh and sometimes laugh at myself. I'm easy-going and always open and ready to live inside whatever moment awaits me.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Helping others by practicing medical massage and working as a personal trainer, with a focus on rehabilitation. I approach health, personally and professionally, with a laser focus.

Always trying to write new music and performing when I can. Practicing a new instrument.

I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Learning new things. Appreciating beauty. Being a loyal friend. Getting people's shirts off at parties. Tuning into animals. Kissing. Appreciating beauty. Nurturing my friends, family, and anyone who is open to it.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My smile, dark blue eyes, and warmth. That I look way younger than I am.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I've been inspired by books like Reading Lolita in Tehran, Three Cups of Tea, Radical Simplicity, Getting Things Done. I enjoy books about Middle East politics, culture, literature, and people. Other authors I like: Tom Robbins, PKD, Augusten Burroughs.

I'm not really a movie buff. I'd take a campfire over a theatre any day. But when I'm home I love watching comedy, musical performances, and documentaries about social issues.

My taste in music ranges wildly. But I especially like passionate female singer songwriters, ambient, and world music. Musicians I like: Yasmin Levy, Tycho, Yann Tiersen, Santana, Cat Empire, Someone Still Loves you Boris Yeltsin, Adelle, Strunz and Farah, Sinead O Conner, Shawn Colvin, Florence and the Machine, Death Cab for Cutie, Cat Stevens, B52's, Dead Can Dance, Luscious Jackson, Vampire Weekend.

I like seeing live music in really small intimate venues. I've cultivated a special passion and love for Persian classical music. Also, I love flamenco.

I Looooooove food. I like to cook for people, especially Southern style comfort food. I eat Indian, Thai, Persian- I make a lot of those dishes. I'm experimenting with gluten free crepes and dosa. I like to go out for a beer or have a glass of wine with dinner.
The six things I could never do without

I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
People, motivations, character, interactions, the natural world, beauty, food, self-growth. How I'm craving to live somewhere other than Silicon Valley. (Thinking Berkeley in 6 months or so)
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Whatever. A Friday is like any other day. Sometimes I just indulge myself by going to bed early with a book and my cat on my lap. But when I have fun, I enjoy seeing music in Berkeley or Oakland, cooking a nice meal, or maybe working out at the gym.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm an open book and don't really have too many secrets. I used to be careful around nude photos because I thought that one day it would be possible I'd decide to run for president. Guess not. ;)

Also, I was married once.
