I am geeky, awesome, and super rad.
My Self-Summary
I am a reluctant
academic. I like bad karaoke, dance
parties,
photography (other people's, I'm not
so good at making my own) - especially portraits, seeking the
divine in unlikely places, making lists, playing games and learning
how to play new ones (board/video/etc), tv on the internet, and
lots of other things.
I'm here because I'd like to meet people outside my social circle.
I tend to be kind of weird and shy sometimes and it's hard for me
to strike up a conversation with a stranger, so this is the closest
I'll really come to that.
I am a
feminist.
I find capitalism and democracy to be problematic but I have no
problem owning up to my lack of realistic solutions. I am an
atheist and an occasional existentialist, but I'm pretty happy
about both of those things. I grew up in south Louisiana and moved
to Flagstaff when I was 18 to go to NAU, and found that people in
Arizona have a really hard time with
Cajun last names.
Sometimes I think I'll be a student forever. Sometimes I'm okay
with that.
My list of people I'd really like to meet before I die is really
short:
Wil
Wheaton and
Neil Gaiman. I met Wil Wheaton. He's
a pretty nice guy.
What I’m doing with my life
Currently, I'm trying to finish my MA in
art history. After that, I'll start
a
library
science program (both at U of A).
I’m really good at
Winning odd contests.
Risk.
Making mediocre gumbo.
The first things people usually notice about me
I have pretty intense hair. It's awesome.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
books:
American Gods, Ender's Game, Fierce Invalids Home from Hot
Climates
movies:
Apocalypse Now, The Motorcycle Diaries, Coraline
tv:
Firefly, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, 30 Rock, M*A*S*H, Glee, True
Blood, The Daily Show, Heroes
music:
ridiculous pop music, The Get Up Kids, Death Cab for Cutie, Bright
Eyes, etc.
food:
maraschino cherries, Cajun food, burritos, sushi, really good
sandwiches
The six things I could never do without
Other than the super obvious food/air/water type stuff? My
computer, caffeine...the rest are probably people.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Whether or not I have useful skills in case of
zombie apocalypse,
whether I'd rather be deaf or blind, where I'll be in five years.
On a typical Friday night I am
On a Friday-night-friend-date with one of my best friends, or at a
party at someone's house, or at home reading and working on my
thesis.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I play
World
of Warcraft, but not obsessively. My (Horde, of course!) priest
is pretty rad. :)
You should message me if
...you want to? I don't know. If you're geeky, smart, fun, or have
something interesting to say, then sure.
