My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
The seers of OkCupid seem to have inquired that I describe myself. I will do so to the best of my ability to appease them.

So, I've worked at a department store for a number of years. It keeps me active, which is great, but I think it's about time I moved on from that (I can't exactly become passionate about a profession that involves helping customers tell the difference between various types of Clorox, and then stocking said Clorox). I love watching movies/shows and discussing them with people, playing vidya games - if I actually have time - and generally being a rapscallion. I'm also one of those strict "grammar people" your mother warned you about. I like dogs and cats...I love food...I'm not Batman...I wish I was...I think that's it.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Currently going back to school to study writing/journalism, and would probably like to one day write about movies or entertainment in general. Only NOT working at a tabloid. I have morals.

In short: I'm still trying to figure out what to do. But at least I've started going to the gym...unless my old friend Procrastination intervenes.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Learning and referencing pop culture trivia, whether it be movies, TV, music, or games (sports, not so much). Also, writing, working manual labor, navigating the internet, being an awkward penguin, and being fairly absent minded. I have also memorized and can sing "It's the End of the World As We Know It" on the spot, which I've learned is a surprisingly decent party trick.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm quite fuzzy, so that, I suppose. My hair used to be wild and almost Doc Brown-like, but I've started shaving it recently. Also my beard if I'm rockin' one at the time.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: Admittedly, despite being somewhat well-worded, I've only fairly recently started catching up on reading books, and some of the phenomenal recent ones that come to mind are American Gods, A Confederacy of Dunces, It, The Count of Monte Cristo, Lovecraft short stories, The Great Gatsby, Slaughterhouse Five, etc. I'm totally open to recommendations as I'm still a bit of a virgin when it comes to dead trees.

Also, comic books/graphic novels, because come on now.

Movies: Huge film buff. I think ANY concept for a movie has the potential to be great, and I love mainstream and indie films equally. Apocalypse Now, Marvel Films, Citizen Kane, Jackass, much of the Criterion Collection, Scott Pilgrim, John Carpenter's The Thing, Groundhog Day, Amelie, Oldboy, Eternal Sunshine, Blade Runner, The Good the Bad and the Ugly, Animal House, City of God, and almost anything by Martin Scorsese, The Coen Brothers, Alfred Hitchcock, Pixar, Charlie Chaplin, David Fincher, Hayao Miyazaki, Stanley Kubrick, Disney, Charlie Kaufman, Quentin Tarantino, Billy Wilder, Terry Gilliam, etc. And most documentaries too.

Shows: Breaking Bad (bitch), Doctor Who, Mad Men, Mystery Science Theater 3000, Parks and Rec, How I Met Your Mother, The Wire, Downton Abbey, Star Trek, various cartoons (QUITE a few, actually), Arrested Development, Twilight Zone, All In the Family, Twin Peaks, Battlestar Galactica, WWE (yeah, big pro wrestling fan here. My guilty obsession), and many others. Of course, most of these are all binge-watched, because Netflix is my spirit animal.

Music: While I tend to gravitate towards listening to classic rock and metal from the 60's to the 90's (much of which can be affectionately referred to as "dad rock"), I'm pretty eclectic otherwise. My playlist could go from Daft Punk to Tom Waits, from Pink Floyd to ABBA. Tom Petty, Primus/Les Claypool, Blue Man Group, Holst, Kavinsky, Hall and Fucking Oates, Gorillaz, Billy Joel, Electric Six, Danzig, Thomas Bergersen, Parliament-Funkadelic, Depeche Mode, video game music, musicals...yeah, there's not really a genre I truly despise. I have incredibly broad tastes in music, although I'm not as adventurous as I should be. The ones I have an aversion to would have to be (and sorry for being clichéd) modern hip-hop and country, although I do really like some rap - particularly the older stuff - and I LOVE southern rock. Go figure.

Food: I'm not picky at all about what I eat...meaning I'm not picky about stuff that is already familiar to me. I'll still try almost anything once, unless it's something like fried chicken anus or whatever on Bizarre Foods. But from a regional standpoint, I would say...Italian, I suppose?

Also, I'm a video game aficionado. Mostly RPGs (like Elder Scrolls and Final Fantasy), action adventure (God of War), and classic games. That's the short list anyway, without getting too obscure (Katamari Damacy being one of many examples).
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1. Knowledge
2. Technology
3. Music
4. Camaraderie
5. Coffee
6. The tears of my enemies
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Why the nearby McDonald's is backed up at the drive-thru when there's a perfectly good and far superior Burger King across the street. Why I'm so much better at winning imaginary arguments in the shower. Why cats are such assholes, even though I still like them. Also, what I should be doing with my life, but that's not as important as burgers and cats.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
I'm on overnight shift, so working for the weekend. Like the song, just not as peppy. I haven't had a Friday off in so long, that sometimes I forget that's a thing. Sunday is my Friday, so I'm understandably a little discombobulated.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I never learned how to ride a bike. Eating pavement scared the bejebus out of me. Because ouch.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You live within a fairly close distance to me. If you think we share some common interests in the various geeky/nerdy things listed above (calling all Whovians). You'd like to go out for drinks and kick some ass at trivia.

Oh, and a human being would be preferred....or not. I'm kind of interested in meeting a demigod or alien as well.

Thank you, and have a pleasant tomorrow.
