My self-summary
The seers of OKCupid seem to have inquired that I describe myself. I will do so to the best of my ability to appease them.

So, I've lived in east Tennesse my entire life, but just recently moved to north Knoxville. I'm still fairly unfamiliar with the area - specifically downtown. I've worked at a department store for a number of years. It keeps me active, which is great, but I think it's about time I moved on from that (I can't exactly become passionate about a profession that involves helping customers tell the difference between various types of Clorox, and then stocking said Clorox) I love watching movies/shows and discussing them with people, playing games, and being a rapscallion. I like dogs and cats...love eating...I'm not Batman...I wish I was...I think that's it.
What I’m doing with my life
Besides currently working on exercising more often (mostly jogging), I'm contemplating on going to go back to school, possibly focus on writing or teaching. Would probably like to write about movies and/or something involving entertainment in general. Only not working at a tabloid. I have morals.

In short: I'm still trying to figure out what to do.
I’m really good at
Soaking up entertainment trivia, whether it be movies, TV, music, or games (sports, not so much). Also, procrastinating, writing, working manual labor (I'm good at it, I didn't say I adored it), navigating the internet, occasionally being an awkward penguin and also fairly absent minded. I have memorized and can sing It's the End of the World As We Know It on the spot, which I've learned is a surprisingly decent party trick.
The first things people usually notice about me
My hair, or lack thereof. It used to be wild and almost Doc Brown-like, but I started shaving it. Also my beard if I'm rocking one at the time.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Movies: Huge film buff. I think ANY concept of a film has the potential to be great, and I love mainstream and indie films equally. Apocalypse Now, Marvel Films, Citizen Kane, Jackass, most of the Criterion Collection stuff (Ingmar Bergman, Akira Kurosawa, and such), John Carpenter's The Thing, Monty Python movies, Oldboy, 12 Angry Men, Eternal Sunshine, Blade Runner, Scott Pilgrim, The Fall, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, Animal House, City of God. Anything by Martin Scorsese, The Coen Brothers, Alfred Hitchcock, Pixar, Charlie Chaplin, David Fincher, Hayao Miyazaki, Stanley Kubrick, Tarantino, etc...it would be easier to list movies I don't like.

Shows: Breaking Bad, Doctor Who, Mad Men, MST3K, Parks and Rec, The Walking Dead, How I Met Your Mother, The Wire, Downton Abbey, Adventure Time and various other cartoons, Arrested Development, Twilight Zone, All in the Family, Twin Peaks, Monday Night Raw (yeah, big pro wrestling fan here. My guilty obsession).

Music: I apologize for using the most cliched phrase for a profile, but I listen to almost anything. While I tend to lean towards listening to classic rock and metal from the 60's to the 90's (much of which can be affectionately referred to as "dad rock"), and love most bands that fall into this criteria, I'm pretty eclectic otherwise. My playlist could go from Daft Punk to ABBA, from Pink Floyd to Tom Waits. Mumford and Sons, Tom Petty, TV On the Radio, Primus/Les Claypool, Hall and Fucking Oates, Holst, Kavinsky, Gorillaz, Billy Joel, Electric Six, Danzig, Pink Floyd, Prince, Depeche Mode, video game music...yeah, there's not really a genre I truly dislike. The ones I have a natural aversion to would have to be modern hip-hop and country (again, sorry for being derivative), although I do really like some rap - particularly the older stuff - and I LOVE southern rock. Go figure.

Food: I'm not picky at all about what I eat...meaning I'm not picky about stuff that is already familiar to me. I'll still try something once, unless it's something like fried chicken anus or whatever on Bizarre Foods (even though those are more than likely still healthier than most of McDonalds' menu). But from a regional standpoint, I would say...Italian, maybe?

Also, video game aficionado. Mostly RPG's (like Elder Scrolls and Final Fantasy), action adventure (God of War), and classic games.
The six things I could never do without
1. Knowledge
2. Technology
3. Transportation
4. Camaraderie
5. Movies
6. The tears of my enemies
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Why the nearby McDonald's is backed-up at the drive-thru when there's a perfectly good and far superior Burger King across the street. Why I'm so much better at winning imaginary arguments in the shower. Why cats are such assholes, even though I still like them. Also, what I should be doing with my life, but that's not as important as burgers and cats.
On a typical Friday night I am
Working for the weekend. Like the song, just not as peppy. I haven't had a Friday off in so long, that sometimes I forget that's a thing.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I spend way too much time on the internet, although I won't turn down an opportunity to hang out with friends because of it. Also, I'm one of those strict grammar people your mother warned you about (and I use parentheses and ellipses far too often...)

...Oh, and I never learned how to ride a bike. Eating pavement scared the bejeebus out of me as a kid. Because ouch.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 18–33
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating, activity partners
You should message me if
If you think we share some common interests. If you think we could have a extensive conversation about any of the geeky things listed above. If you want to go walking in the park now that it's feeling awesomely awesome outside (I've probably jinxed the weather now by saying this). If you want to meet someone who can fix the hell out of some Hamburger Helper.
And a human being would be preferred...or not. I'm kind of interested in meeting a demigod or alien as well.

Also, that confounded app will probably list me as always being online. Yay technology.
