My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Hello there! I enjoy long walks on the beach and writing overused clichés on internet dating profiles. Music is a big part of who I am. When asked to describe me a coworker once said "I don't know, you smile a lot." I'm from California originally, I recently lived in Colorado for a few years, and I'm moving to Chicago very soon. I'm looking forward to good food and bad weather.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I spend most of my time these days working from home with people in Texas, Egypt, Germany, and elsewhere. Currently I'm looking into PhD programs that combine my disparate interests in music and technology. Ideally I would like to play music and do comedy for a living, with some technical consulting work on the side to pay for musical instruments that I don't need. I once bought a beautiful guitar. It was so beautiful that I was afraid to play it, so I sold it. Good story.

When I'm not working I like to go on adventures, snowboard, bike, cook, travel, play music, do standup or improv comedy, converse intellectually, converse non-intellectually, hang out with old friends, meet new friends, and sing in the shower.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Music, cooking, crocheting, talking good, and using the Oxford comma.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My smile... I don't know, what do you notice?
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: Lolita, Catch-22, A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, Neuromancer

Movies: Dr. Strangelove, 2001, The Big Lebowski, Tropic Thunder, The Social Network, Blade Runner, Prometheus

Shows: 30 Rock, Parks & Recreation, Louie, The League, Mad Men, Top Gear

Food: Anything and everything. I love to cook and to eat in or out. I like to eat meat, but I love cooking for and eating with people who don't, dietary restrictions are fun to work around.

Music: My parents are jazz musicians, as am I, so jazz is close to my heart. I like music of various shapes and sizes though. You want a list? Fine:

Miles Davis, Debussy, Jimi Hendrix, Blind Melon, Ben Williams, John Coltrane, Robert Glasper, Chris Potter, The Flaming Lips, Chopin, Bon Iver, Radiohead, Bach, The Roots, Rachmaninov, Pearl Jam...
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Music, family and friends, the ocean, my saxophone, the sun (which is an excellent source of Vitamin D and also heat), optimism.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Big questions like "what do I want to be when I grow up?" Also little questions like "where did I put my keys?" (I tend to lose things.)
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Out on the town with friends, playing music, doing standup or improv. I no longer drink, but I have no problem being around those who do. I'm a great sober enabler, and I make a mean Manhattan.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I go through conditioner faster than I do shampoo. Shh... It's a secret.
