I am artistic, radical, and impassioned.

My Self-Summary

Creating takes up most of my energy and time. I have a passion for words, the postal service, and high-quality prose. I consider myself a writer, a mail artist, and the occasional performance artiste. I like spider-free hikes, first snowfalls, Russian literature, Cronenberg films, making zines, exploring the underground press, meeting impassioned strangers, lambic, rice-based cuisine, language, anthropology, self-aware ramblings, late-night conversations, yoga, contortionism, the abnormal, black and white film, Polaroids...

What I’m doing with my life

I'm creating mail art daily. I'm writing stories. I'm making zines. I'm studying linguistics. I'm playing the harp. I'm writing letters by hand. I'm sleeping in late pretty often. ;) I'm taking hot showers. I'm creating self-portraits. I'm jotting down ideas for new projects. I'm reading, "The Sorrows of Young Werther," by Wolfgang von Goethe. I'm trying to get through this Roman Polanski film without thinking about his lack of morals...

I also hang with digmeout89 for ungodly amounts of time. Sometimes, when she's feeling nice, she'll make me a vegan cupcake or thai peanut noodles.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: My bookshelf is overflowing. It contains works by Guevara, Doctorow, Wright, Tsvetaeva, Turgenev, Dostoevsky, Pushkin, Gogol, Chekhov, Yates, Allende, Borges, Eco, Pynchon, McCarthy, More, London, Hemingway (not really a fan), Trumbo, Nabokov (huge fan), Mayakovsky (favorite poet), Roethke, Ferlinghetti, Tartt, Wolff, Danielewski (unfortunately), Dumas, Sycamore, and more.

Movies: Bernardo Bertolucci, Dario Argento, David Cronenberg, PT Anderson, and Gus Van Sant are my favorite directors. I also have a special place in my heart for the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the 70s gangster film, "The Wanderers," and other classic oddballs like The Virgin Suicides, Gattaca, City of God, Requiem for a Dream, and so forth.

Music: Velvet Underground, the Smiths, Siouxsie & the Banshees, the Libertines, Sex Pistols, the Clash, REM, Van Morrisson, NMH, Bowie (before he started crooning), Clapton, the Band, Nirvana, Beat Happening, Andre Caplet, the Pixies, Pavement, Belle & Sebastian, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Dresden Dolls, Irina Vasilieva, Jonathan Fire Eater, Celebration, The Occasion, Talking Heads, Stone Roses, Blur, Suede, Pulp, more to come.

Food: Sushi, Thai curries, South Indian dosas, rice, rice, and more rice. Plus a mojito might be nice.

The six things I could never do without

1. Blank Journal
2. Inspiration
3. Collage materials
4. Some intricate prose work
5. A warm, unbearably-comfortable blanket
6. A drum.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

While you'll get a much better idea of what I think about by having a conversation with me, I can say that I devote a lot of time to thinking about new creative endeavors, how to reconcile sexuality and feminism, literature, how to capture precisely what I am feeling with words despite the limitations of written language...

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I converted to Mormonism my senior year of high school, and then left the church a year later. :0

~you're going to write more than a sentence, and it'll contain some level of coherence. ;)
