My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
How do you summarize yourself? Well let's see...

I love live music and am fairly decent on the guitar I guess (but you'll have to take a listen and decide for yourself). I play a few places around town and host an open mic every Tuesday night at Alchemy Coffee if you want to slip in anonymously to check things out.

I also love the outdoors. Camping, rock climbing, cycling, hiking, snow shoeing, or just hanging out with friends in one of Salt Lake's beautiful canyons. I came to SLC for a short term contract way back in '88, fell in love with the mountains and never left!

I'm really good with kids. I love them and they seem to really like me too. Some of my fondest memories involve the many hours (literally thousands) volunteering at the elementary school both of my boys attended. That was a ways back, as they are now both in college, but some of "my" other kids from those years are now adults and still keep in touch. Some of the teachers still talk me into coming back to do the occasional project in their classes.

I try to have a good time and rachet up the humor factor wherever I am. Quick with a joke, and very good at entertaining myself. I've never understood why so many of my jokes elicit blank stares though...

Hey, this is just a first draft. If you are interested at all, start a conversation with me! I'm easy to get along with. Unless you are racist, self-absorbed, or a hater. Then you get to experience the Icy Stare of Doom.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
living day to day with the belief that the best days are still ahead of me.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
being a strong friend; mixing honesty with encouragement; staying young at heart; I'm great with kids!
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
the chiseled features and rock hard abs...not me, the other guy. Then I snap my fingers and they come back to reality with something like "huh? oh yeah, what did you say?"
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Saving Private Ryan (Tom Hanks is my all-time favorite actor); LOTR trilogy; Avatar; Dances With Wolves; Apollo 13; Firefox (the series) and Battlestar Gallactica (the new one, not Bonanza-in-space); lots of live music...I host an open mic at Alchemy Coffee shop every Tuesday night and enjoy most live music; Shogun and Dune have always been my favorite books; not particularly fond of spicy foods but love tasty food and beverages in general.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
my love for my boys; good friends; my guitar; hope; nature; belief in the future; my morning coffee (yes that's 7, I know)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
life, legacy, my two boys, the cosmos. And hoping that I will find that special someone to share a long term and loving commitment with. As C3P0 said, long ago and far, far away: "over here! I'm over here!!"
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
decompressing from the week. Could look like live music, going biking or camping, meeting up with a close friend, or just hanging out at home. What I never do is go to bars looking to hook up. I have no interest in being a player.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
hey, it's private. If you really want to know you have to come and ask.

there is no "if". There is only "should".
