My self-summary
I guess I like the normal things: movies, music, seeing art, good bands, hanging out with friends. I tend to root for the underdog. I'm pretty laid back, but can be spontaneous. I'm as interested in politics (liberal) as I am debating important popular cultural issues like who's the more interesting Olsen twin. (Ashley?)
What I’m doing with my life
TV and Film writer. Wrote a romantic rock n' roll comedy in '03 that was in the theaters for all of seven days! I've just finished writing and directing a play (noir) that was performed at a warehouse space downtown. Totally rewarding and fun.
I’m really good at
guessing the exact time (well, within a minute or two.) But sometimes I'm way off. Also I'm fairly deft at steering with my left knee.
The first things people usually notice about me
My strength of character and conviction. It's profound and could knock a stranger over from across the room.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Primarily fiction: Mildred Pierce, Lolita, Atonement, The Corrections, Jesus' Son, The last half a dozen books I've read I've really loved: Freedom, Visit from the Good Squad, Look At Me and The Marriage Plot. Brief and Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao. Just started The Sisters Brothers: hilarious and dark.

Favorite recent(ish) movies: Margaret. (pretty much a masterpiece imho.) The Skin I Live In, Tree of Life, Our Idiot Brother, Please Give, An Education, The Celebration, Happy Go Lucky, The Lives of Others. I also seem to be the only person in America that didn't love Lincoln (thought it was a little boring.)

Music: Stereolab, My bloody Valentine, Yo La Tengo, Dirty Projectors, Deerhoof, New pornographers, shins, Built to Spill, Pavement, Giant Sand, Willie, Sleater Kinney, De La Soul and will fess up to Fiona Apple. Also I really like the new Frank Ocean.

TV: I don't watch all that often. Mostly news. But I do like Justified, Enlightened, Louie, and BBC shows (have you seen Garth Marenghi's Darkplace on BBC? Very funny. Earnest narrator: "This place was dark. Damn dark. Hence, Darkplace."
The six things I could never do without
tacos de cameron at Alegria, 'shuffle' on ipod,
organic honey crisps, sonicare toothbrush, Talking Points
Memo (.com), hmm one more... olive oil?
I spend a lot of time thinking about
people's behavior, politics, art, making homemade gazpacho, things that make me laugh, how smart colbert is, alliteration. Will I ever finish Middlemarch, Obama and Elizabeth Warren WIN!!! No conservative supreme crt judges added for four more years!
On a typical Friday night I am
My friday nights are pretty inconsistent. Friend's house? Restaurant? Bar? Seeing music? Home? Seeing art?
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have not watched an episode of Mad Men, The Wire, Downton Abbey nor Weeds. Not very private but that's a start. One day, would like to tackle a few.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 32–42
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating
You should message me if
You could've been persuaded (or perhaps persuaded me) to sit through seven hours of Gatz at the red cat theater in December. (Where amazing actors read the entire Great Gatsby novel. It was supposed to be, SUPPOSED TO BE -- extraordinary.) Or sure, message me even if you would've found this request objectionable.
