I am independent, Danish, and creative.
My Self-Summary
I'm Helena. I'm a first year law student and constantly
busy...
I speak Danish, Spanish, a bit of Arabic, and combined with a love
for traveling I'm studying international law to put all of that to
good use.
I'm very independent, ambitious, and perhaps a bit stubborn in that
I fully intend to accomplish the things I commit myself to, but
that doesn't mean I don't know how to have fun.
I tend to like and enjoy:
yoga, chai tea, travel, walking, going to shows/concerts, making
mix tapes (yes, tapes), plans, schedules, and calendars, zines,
volleyball, being on time, haircuts, red wine, wearing suits,
learning, long drives, sushi, reading, being outside.
I tend to dislike and loathe:
pretentiousness, when people interrupt, apathy, fundamentalism,
disloyalty, gossip, hypocrisy, sharks, shopping, impatience, shoes
and wearing shoes inside, intolerance, when people answer cell
phones/text message in the company of friends.
What I’m doing with my life
Attempting to lead a significant and authentic life.
Trying to become a diplomat, work for the UN, change the world,
etc.
I’m really good at
I like to think I am a talented singer.
I almost studied vocal performance instead of international
relations, although I am glad for the almost part.
It's something I truly enjoy; hence why I wouldn't want to reduce
it to what I must do to get by on.
I've also been told I'm rather good at writing. Sometimes I find it
easiest to communicate things to people by writing it down.
Languages. I learn them easily, and I love doing so.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm pretty tall.
I guess the very next thing I would hope people notice about me is
that I think before I speak/write/act.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Law school will most likely ruin reading for me, but I enjoy
fiction when I get the time. So, as for books- flatland, midnight
in the garden of good and evil, a million little pieces, fight
club, the little prince, kite runner, a farewell to arms, even
cowgirls get the blues, skinny legs and all.
Movies:
amelie, harold and maude, saved!, interview with the vampire, my
girl, fight club, newises, igby goes down, moulin rouge, in good
company, the waking life, i heart huckabees, john wayne westerns,
rebel without a cause, no end in sight, the last unicorn, the
painted veil, an unreasonable man, almost famous, the namesake,
science of sleep, terkel i knibe, foreign film.
Music:
low, the faint, sufjan stevens, elliott smith, magnetic fields,
stars, bright eyes, andrew bird, copeland, iron and wine, maria
taylor, regina spektor, azure ray, kevin devine, rogue wave, the
decemberists, pedro the lion, cursive, do make say think, cat
stevens, david ford, rosie thomas, damien rice, neutral milk hotel,
gillian welch, nada surf, matt costa, david gray, cat power.
Food:
Anything and everything I haven't tried.
The six things I could never do without
1. Courage
2. Music
3. Family. It's small, but it's the only one i have.
4. four seasons. i couldn't live in a place without all forms of
precipitation and weather. (thanks, ohio) i have to experience the
changing of the seasons. it's kind of how i mark my life/what i
remember important things by.
5. Friends.
quality, not quantity.
6. Diet soda.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
school. the future. the status of world affairs. politics.
religion.
why!!!!!
On a typical Friday night I am
with friends or studying. just depends.
