My self-summary
I've played basketball for as long as I can remember. I used to spend entire days down at the neighborhood hoop when I was a little kid, pretending that I was John Stockton of the Utah Jazz, and my dad was always Karl Malone. I spend my free time hiking, reading, at the gym, playing and losing at board games, golfing, swimming, and trying to do the Sunday NY Times crossword puzzle and sometimes succeeding. I love the feeling of being sweaty and completely exhausted after intense exercise. I'm a bit of an introvert, sometimes I need some good quiet time to recharge my social batteries. I've been lucky enough to travel to six countries and I hope to go to Ethiopia and Spain all in one trip this next summer.
What I’m doing with my life
Going to college while working at a golf course along the Willamette in Portland
I’m really good at
Speaking Spanish, pointless trivia, thinking about the bigger picture in life, being introspective, sticking to a workout routine. I'm also really good at finding clothes that are too small for me and hitting my head on ceilings and doorways.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm 6'9", so I think that's pretty hard for people to miss
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Don Quixote is without question my favorite book of all time. I want to read it again...and again. Drop Dead Healthy, Things Fall Apart, Old Man and The Sea, The Picture of Dorian Gray. I love travel writing.

I just started Breaking Bad and its as great as I had heard. My favorites are Seinfeld, Law and Order and King of the Hill. I'll play along with Jeopardy at home. I like watching most sports, mainly baseball and basketball. Anything commentated by Bill Raftery, Dick Vitale or Gus Johnson is always a spectacle, they could announce basket weaving and I would sit in rapt excitement.

I'll eat anything if it's healthy for me. I don't really like to cook though. Burritos, Ethiopian food, Indian food, Lebanese, pasta, coconut, chocolate, grapefruit, watermelon, carrots, avocado, any leafy green vegetable, tomatoes. Peanut butter goes on everything.

I could listen to "I'm on Fire" by Bruce Springsteen on repeat. Van Morrison, Nicolay, Cat Stevens, J Dilla, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, The Avett Brothers, Dire Straits, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Seger, Creedence Clearwater Revival, City and Colour, Willie Nelson, Pearl Jam, The National, Bon Iver, Nizlopi, Sigur Ros, Jackson Browne. The Law and Order intro song is the cut.
The six things I could never do without
Coffee, peace and quiet, athletic challenges, the outdoors, New Seasons Market, baked goods.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Other cultures, traveling, sports, women and sex, food and nutrition, how life in various parts of history must have been like, what the future holds for me. Languages are very fascinating to me and I speak Spanish fluently and French decently but I practice both by trying to translate American hip hop songs into the language.
On a typical Friday night I am
either out with friends, at the gym, or staying up too late reading articles on various subjects on Huffington Post.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I can be somewhat emotional for a guy. Also, when I was about 4 years old, I ate cat food a couple of times.

You care enough about your body to exercise regularly (especially if you actually enjoy exercising) and eat healthy, but you don't tan excessively or put on a ton of makeup. You use good grammar and don't say "lol" after every sentence. You treat people with diverse opinions and backgrounds with respect.
