i'm a fairly interesting person... i enjoy a myriad of things, including traveling (to anywhere actually), the arts (music, dance, photography, design, culture, fine arts, cuisine, etc.), and nature (camping, hiking, backpacking, canoeing), just to name a few...

i'd like to someday join the peace corps... and in the more distant future, at some point, teach high school french or art...

i'm a jeans-and-t-shirt kinda girl (in the winter accompanied by a sweater of sorts, scarf, & jacket, flip-flops in the summer), though i like to rock the occasional party dress. i have short brown hair and brown eyes (hence the screen name), am about average height, and my friends in the past have teased me about my weight (they referred to me as "twiggy")... but i'd say i've filled out a bit. i wear glasses, though i'm not all that blind...

i like the crunch & smell & color of leaves in fall, big fluffy snowflakes, chai lattes & arizona green tea, meteor showers, going to the paris opera ballet, trader joe's, charcoal pencils, thrift stores, peace, wearing scarves parisian-style, hooded sweatshirts, ikea, ellipses...

i'm a recent college graduate (b.a.), and have been substitute teaching, waiting tables, and living at home for awhile while i figure out what i want to do with my life. fun times...

i recently spent my life's savings to going to guinea, west africa to study w. african dancing & drumming first-hand from the people who know it best. sweet... it was an amazing experience to say the least.

next on the list... making the move to france this fall to work as a teaching assistant.

taking pictures, dancing, crafty things... i try to be good at cooking, being musical, writing, speaking french, etc...

a few people have thought me to be foreign, at home and during my travels... that, and i'm not the type you'd want to mess w/ (this one i find particularly amusing). some people find me a little stand-off-ish at first, but that's usually just misconstrued nervousness about trying to impress new people... but really, who am i trying so desperately to impress?

music: everything and anything i can get my hands on with the exception of most rap... amos lee, ari hest, belle & sebastian, ben folds, bob marley, carla bruni, damien rice, dave matthews band, david gray, death cab for cutie, dispatch, elton john, eric clapton, guster, iron & wine, james taylor, john butler trio, joshua radin, kings of convenience, o.a.r., phish, the postal service, ray lamontagne, rodrigo y gabriela, the shins, sigur ros, sufjan stevens, and so many more

food: ethnic cuisine, especially indian or middle eastern (which i don't get very often), chocolate, good wine, micro brews, simple comfort foods (mac n cheese, hot dogs, pb&j)... i'm pretty adventurous when it comes to food

i also can't get enough of anthony bourdain's no reservations, monday nights at 10 on the travel channel

participating in any combination of the following... watching a movie, cooking dinner, working as a cocktail server, having a beer (or cocktail) or two, checking out a local folky gig, getting crafty with myself or with friends, visiting friends from college...

i'm a pretty open person, and don't usually hold much back... i'm a 'what you see is what you get' kinda girl. i'm currently living with my parents while i figure out life's next step... which is moving to france (see above).

i still rock out to cassette tapes while driving in my car. latest listens: top gun soundtrack, bob marley mix tape, cruisin' classics, vol. 5 (w/ the likes of earth, wind, & fire, wham!, & america)
