This is crazy, but a friend and I were at the kk club in Dinkytown a couple of months ago and after close we engaged a group of 20 somethings outside. They seemed a little out of place considering it is kind of a college area and these kids were definitely not college bound. We somehow got into a discussion about abortion and when one of them heard that my friend (and I) were pro-choice he simply went apeshit. He started calling her baby killer and that she was going to hell, etc... She was yelling back saying "jesus loves you". The guy spit in her face several times and spit in mine as well. I was trying to get her back to the car and a friend of his was holding him back and telling us to "just leave". I finally got my friend into her car and the guy walked over still yelling at her. He even at one point said "fuck Jesus" Goddamn Hypocrite. While he was yelling at her in her car I stepped between him and her and he punched me in the side of the head. It didn't really hurt, but I was super surprised. I got us both out of there after that and everything was ok. No one got hurt.

I think I handled it right, but some of my friends don't think they could have taken getting spit in the face without reacting differently. I was simply so surprised by the attitude of the guy that my attitude was "really?", "are you for real?". Anyone think they would have handled this situation differently?
