Life can be hard, so it's important to approach it with a sense of humor. Intelligence is another attribute I value highly. Kids are important, I'm a teacher by day, but I don't want any of my own.

It seems like I'm always learning. I already have four degrees, so I'm more of an autodidact these days, working on a half-dozen books at a time, and pulling information from the internet, the greatest innovation of my lifetime. Good food and wine are a big interest, and I'm quite fond of pets, mine, and those of others. Netflix is another great addition to my life, it has allowed me to fulfill me lifelong ambition of becoming a serious student of world cinema. This election year is manna from heaven for this political junkie, even if it will end in my libertarians getting creamed yet again.

Reading and writing, and I'm passable at 'rithmetic too. I'm the guy most of my friends turn to when they're having computer problems, and I love keeping plants.

My competencies seem to be noticed by total strangers. While traveling across the continent this summer I walked into a Walgreens in Arizona, where I was immediately approached by a clerk that sought out my help in fixing her new receipt-printing machine, which I managed in 15-20 seconds. Earlier in that trip, while at Mount Rushmore, I was approached by a girl of about eight, who asked me "mister, what state was the first one admitted to the Union?" This young lady could have made this inquiry to any of hundreds of people in the vicinity, and I vindicated her choice of me my immediately answering "Delaware!"
