My self-summary
It's always hard not to sound trite or creepy when filling these things out. Like everyone else I like to travel, go out and I have a wicked sense of humor. Unlike everyone else, I'm totally awesome and humble.
What I’m doing with my life
Just moved back to my hometown of Portland to do organizing and social justice work. I'm looking to make new friends to do all the cool stuff I can do now as an adult (Portland was mad boring as a teenager...there's only so many first Thursdays you can go to before it becomes a slow torture) and see how it goes from there. Also trying to figure out if this adulthood thing is really all it's cracked up to me. Sure the R-rated movies and booze are cool and all, but being responsible for stuff like students loans and waking up early seriously blows.

Ideally, I just want to contribute in some meaningful way to society but it's hard to do when you spent a chunk of time getting the first African-American elected as president...it just seems like downhill from there (and yes, I might just be bragging, just a touch).
I’m really good at
Honest to goodness photography with actual film (gasp!) and black and white film at that (double gasp!). Knitting dog sweaters; miniature figures (ask me about my brain hat with mini zombies...I call it my Walking Dead Thinking cap); readin' stuff; asking why; burning time at powells; people watching; getting frizzy hair (it's a heavy burden, but with great power, comes great responsibility).

But in all seriousness, I'd like to think that I'm a good listener; someone that my friends are comfortable coming to when they're upset about something. Oh and the whole cooking thing. I find it calming to troll through food blogs and try out new recipes...nothing is better than baking challah while watching Purple Rain during a snow storm!
The first things people usually notice about me
I would have to say my sarcasm...what can I say, I have a dry sense of humor. Well, that and my curly locks which is ironic since I was bald for a fair amount of my infanthood. I guess awesome things can't be rushed!

Also, I'm usually quiet; I like to scope out a situation first and I find it prudent to listen first before speaking unless someone is speaking crazy nonsense, then all bets are off.

I spend a lot of time thinking about
Thinking about quantum physics and its implications on race (seriously, a doc on The Shining gave me the idea); the work of Joseph Campbell and how its applicable to the Obama campaaign. Can you tell I've applied to graduate school...

What skills I can contribute when the zombie apocalypse happens...how badly I want to go to Petra (damn you Indiana Jones...when I'm going to stop talking about writing and actually start writing...how buzzfeed, too often, is my spirit animal...whether or not Ben Affleck will make a good Batman or not...why Michael Bay chose to ruin the teenage mutant ninja turtles, oh and world peace (it can't all be frivolous thoughts!).

My time in South Africa, sigh...
On a typical Friday night I am
Well if I'm totally honest, if there's a new season of House of Cards out, I'm main-veining those episodes like Walter White's blue meth. What can I say, Kevin Spacey is deliciously evil. While watching said episodes, I'm usually either working on something or engaging in a running commentary with one of my best friends. Don't get me wrong, I'm not one of those chicks that talks during movies or asks dumb questions about the plot but if it's something I've seen before or particularly scandalous, sometimes those things just need to be shared with others.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I freaked out when I met the guy who does the voice of spongebob squarepants in a kareoke bar in college...in western mass of all places. Btw, I sang Prince.

I'm seeing both Beyoncé and JayZ, as well as Neil DeGrasse Tyson...I'm complicated.
