I am creative, logical, and optimistic.
My Self-Summary
I am a lighting designer for
theater,
concerts, and
opera.
I think that
getting lost is the best way to
discover new things.
I am shy at first, but once I start talking to someone, I open
up.
If I could, I would
travel as often as possible, to as many
different places as possible. I love languages, especially
Italian. I love
learning about people and about the different ways different groups
of people express the same feelings.
What I’m doing with my life
I am a freelance lighting designer. In January, I'm going to
Florence for five months. I have no idea where I will be in five
years. I take life as it comes and try to make the most of it.
I’m really good at
laughing, singing, making chocolate chip cookies, and being
generally awesome
The first things people usually notice about me
eyes (because of the glasses maybe?)
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books: Of Mice and Men, Les Miserables, America The Book: A
Citizen's Guide To Democracy Inaction, The God Delusion, The Gospel
of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, 1984, The Strange Case of Dr.
Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
Movies: Dead Poets Society, Monty Python (any and all), La Vita E'
Bella (Life Is Beautiful), Team America, Spaceballs, The Lion King
(you know you love it too)
Music: Anything and everything. I love world music (especially
Irish and Italian). I also love showtunes, but I don't subject
people to that unless I know they like it.
Irish - Gaelic Storm, Celtic Tenors, U2, Scythian, Enter the
Haggis, The Elders, The Pogues, Seth Lakeman
Italian - Tiziano Ferro, Ligabue, Fiorella Mannoia, Zero Assoluto,
Niccolo' Fabi, Vittorio Grigolo, Chiaraluna
other - Matchbox 20, Journey, Jonathan Coulton, Josh Groban, Culcha
Candela, Blessid Union of Souls, Owl City, Doobie Brothers,
Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Billy Joel, Queen, Dresden Dolls, The
Beatles
Food: Italian by far, but really anything tasty is good.
The six things I could never do without
the people I love
laughter
music
good conversation
sunshine
incandescent light bulbs (fluorescent light makes my inner lighting
designer cry)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
A lot of things. Lately it's been mostly about:
-my upcoming trip to Florence. Where I want to go, what I want to
see, all of the details and legal stuff, and trying to bone up on
my Italian.
-religion. As an atheist, religions are fascinating to me. What
people believe, how they react to questions about their beliefs,
and how they relate to people who believe differently than they do
says everything about a person's character.
-what is important to me. Realizing that I'm going to be gone for
five months really puts life into perspective and makes me think
about who and what is most important.
On a typical Friday night I am
Hanging out with friends, at the theater, or just laying low at
home
