I'm 24, a huge dork, and an obsessive coffee drinker. I care too
much about politics and get emotionally invested in too any books
and TV shows. I speak a Japanese (sort of) and studied abroad
during college so I still get nostalgic and make a boatload of
curry rice sometimes. I like tequila, especially with friends, and
knitting, especially with tequila.
What I’m doing with my life
I graduated college with a degree in creative writing and East
Asian Studies (with a focus on Japan), and now I do online and
social media work for non-profits. I have dreams of either changing
the world one day, or opening a bookshop/bakery/coffee shop.
I’m really good at
I love to write, usually fairly ridiculous self-indulgent fiction,
though sometimes I like to think I turn out something other people
would enjoy reading as well. I also bake a killer cupcake and can
make a mean cup of coffee. I can kick ass at Harry Potter trivia,
though that last skill might be more embarrassing than talented.
The first things people usually notice about me
I have no idea.... how clumsy I am, probably.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
It's almost impossible for me to pick a favorite book, but the top
five looks something like: At Swim, Two Boys by Jamie O'Neill;
Harry Potter; Pride and Prejudice; Lord of the Rings; The Picture
of Dorian Gray
I nerd out pretty hardcore over TV and movies, and will talk your
ear off about screenwriting and character development if given half
a chance. I'll watch anything with a good story, from actually well
written stuff to absurd teen dramas. I cried myself silly over the
end of Doctor Who season 7, am way too emotionally invested in the
BBC Sherlock, and have recently developed a bit of a comic book
habit thanks to the Avengers and my ongoing love affair with
Hawkeye. I love low rated NBC comedies the way a mother would love
her ugliest yet most endearing child.
In music I go back and forth between somewhat respectable (I love
Sufjan Stevens, the Decemberists, Arcade Fire, the Mountain Goats,
etc.) and so much top 40 stuff that I'm not sure I can say I listen
to it ironically anymore.
I also love playing video games, though due to a tragic lack of
anything beyond a gameboy as a child I can kick ass at Wario but
tend to drive myself off a cliff two seconds into a round of Halo.
I can hold my own in Smash, especially if everyone has been
drinking, and I'm a bit too obsessed with Portal and anything on
I'd be a serious foodie if I could afford it and could kick my
secret love of bad Chinese food. I love sushi, good barbeque,
overly expensive expertly made espresso, good beer, and any form of
The six things I could never do without
My family and friends, my laptop, coffee, a good pen, my gecko,
music. (That first one is cheating, I think.)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What I'm currently reading or writing, politics, what sort of
ingredients would go into the most delicious muffin ever.
On a typical Friday night I am
Hopefully out with friends at a good bar/movie/restaurant. Recently
I've been at the office, though hopefully that trend has stopped
for a long while. Otherwise, at home curled up with a good movie or
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I once got runner up in a TV show's official fan fiction contest.
Embarrassingly recently, actually....
