My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Looking for big badass life artists, who are actively creating their life, connecting with Joy, and committed to living life in their zone of genius.

I show up ready to play with holes in my jeans, twigs in my hair, and dirty barefeet because I've just been outside climbing trees or playing in the garden. I show up ready to play in sexy business wear and black boots, with killer Excel spreadsheets in the holsters on my hips. Either way, I'm usually laughing. I drive fast with the windows down and the music loud. I love to get dirty and I love to get clean. I splash in puddles, smell the roses when I walk by, and skip because it feels good. I don't fit into any regular size "girl" boxes...or any boxes for that matter.

• I'm a feminine tomboy.
• I love the feel of sexy fabric against my skin and twirly dresses
and....I'll race ya to Home Depot!
• I've been known to cry at sappy diaper commercials...but I can
almost certainly out-swear you.
• I will tease you and flip you shit and then listen seriously to
whatever’s on your mind or in your heart.
• I hate the mall and you will never, ever hear me say "aren't
these just the cutest shoes?".
• Scrapbooking? I don't think so. Ever.
• Lazer tag? Grab the keys, let's go baby!
• I love really good food and wine...and every single bite of my
nuclear orange Kraft Mac-n-Cheese dinner.
• I'm crazy left-brained analytical, but also deeply emotional; I
live life from my heart, not my head.
• I'm a super-squishy INFP on the Myers Briggs and love to help
people but...
• ... I'm an impatient driver who yells at the St00pids to get the
fuck out of my way.
• There's a quiet side that balances all the zoom (see my journal post here
"Suz: The B Sides")
• I can set up a tent with my eyes closed, and can go for days
without a shower…but everyone else better stink too.
• I gently escort bugs outside, usually after watching them awhile.
Unless it’s a roach. Then I’m down with tactical nuclear weapons.
(Thank god I don’t live in the south anymore.)
• I'm very smart, but not an intellectual.
• I'd rather play (fill in the blank) than go to an art
• I can enjoy art galleries though! [excuse me while I go put my
grown-up disguise back on]
• Coffee extra black > venti vanilla extra soy carmel machiatto
with whip (dear god, is that even coffee?)
• Big, fat red = yum. Dark hoppy beer = yum. Mike's Hard Lemonade = bah, girlie drink.
• Laphroaig, straight up, beats ‘em all, hands down.

I'm spunky, affectionate, intuitive, courageous, introspective,
badass, silly, energetic, sassy, bold, sensual, kind, enthusiastic,
and honest.

I laugh easily. The world is a very, very funny place. I love my
life. I love my kids and friends and family. (sounds trite, but there you go. I just don’t do cynical well.) I'm happy and tend to see the positive in everything that comes my way.

I was married for 20 years, been amicably separated then divorced for 6. You'll never hear me dis my ex and vice versa. The kids (12 & 19) are thriving. One at home with me half time, one in college.

I know myself well. Yet, somehow, I keep surprising myself. I want
to still be surprising myself when I take my last breath. Like Steve Jobs, I want to go out on the words "WOW".

“Awake and unafraid” ~MCR.

I am optimistic, irreverent, and full of zoom zoom
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
7 years ago, I started to wake up in my life after a long, long period of sleepwalking through habit-filled days. I found my way back to my Best Self...I’d stuffed her in a closet ages ago to accommodate the people in my life. I sorta forgot about her, but she got tired of being locked up and she karate-chopped her way out! With her by my side, I stood up and Spoke My Mind. Sleepwalking was over. Relationships changed, my husband and I split, I got myself a job, bought myself a house, and committed to a life wide-awake. RAWR!

2 years ago, I engineered another holyshit-ginormous rearrangement of my life, quitting my job with the intention of building my life completely sourced in joy, discovery, and expressing my particular flavor of Suz Genius in the world. I tossed all the old assumptions out the window and am asking what wants to happen next? I'm spending a lot of time with myself, friends, my kids, and people who are actively creating the life they are living--people who are likewise questioning the assumptions, pushing the boundaries, shaking the tree, making shit up as they go in service to their sense of aliveness, shedding old paradigms, and who aren't interested in playing the game of being at the effect of the world (poor me!). I was diagnosed and had surgery for low-grade non-invasive breast cancer, then started creating a medical advocacy and coaching business to help smart women take charge of their cancer. I got a full-time job, workin' in my genius areas to provide easy cash flow and abundance.

1 year ago to now: I was diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer and have spent the last year in treatment. Chemo + surgery. Happy to report, I totally kicked cancer's ass! Got to discover what my head looks like without hair, and now my hair is super curly! (Intending to post new photos shortly). Going toe-to-toe with cancer, life, and death--in macro and micro ways--has left me quieter, more deeply in tune with my body and spirit, and with an even deeper commitment to living in alignment with my soul. I'm choosing to not be employed, focusing my attention on my creativity and discovering all of the new me.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Deep, resonant connecting
Writing myself into being
Herding numbers across the plains of Excel (git along lil doagies!)
Marionberry cobbler

Losing my keys
Finding my center
Understanding people
Getting messy
Getting organized
Soaking up sun on a beach
Building cool stuff out of legos

Looking on the bright side

Cake is yum; frosting is ick. I eat my cupcakes from the bottom up. I think there may be a metaphor in there somewhere but it's not coming to me. If you figure it out, let me know. It may be the answer to everything.

OK, so I love food. Shopping for it, cooking it, smelling, tasting, touching it, eating it, sharing it. Food makes me happy. I don't like food snobbiness, though, or food snobs. CAN make macaroni and cheese without it being the latest mac-n-cheese recipe from the NYT food section prepared with ingredients that must be local, sustainable, and organic and best purchased at the farmer's market. Occasionally, that's nice. But, thanks. I love ethnic food...Indian is my fave, followed by Middle Eastern and Thai. Up for anything new. Fancy food…yup (Castagna, Andina, Laurelhurst Market, Tasty & Sons, dying to try Beast). Hole in the wall, too. (Humdinger = Tater Tots of the Gods).

And then there’s Cap’n Crunch. Which deserves it’s own separate paragraph. Seriously. Cap’n Crunch is badass rocket fuel, it is love in a red box, it is bighappy-making. Cap’n Crunch + coffee surely ought to be illegal. If they ever change the formula, I’m quitting my day job to stage a riot.

I like listening to other people's music. Lots of variety, lots of genres...I get bored fast. Unless I really like it. Then I may listen to it for months and months and months, which could get really annoying. altrock, punk, techno, dubstep, post-modern, pop, metal, world, jazz when I'm occasionally in the mood for it; classical, rarely ever.

Anything by Hiyao Miyazaki (that man is a genius): My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away, Nausicaa, Howl’s Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke; V for Vendetta, Shawshank Redemption, Whale Rider; Incredibles, Serenity, Iron Giant. Spinal Tap. Fearless. Swordfish. Road Warrior. Matrix. Groundhog Day. Princess Bride. Terminator. Sound of Music.

I'm down for movies with really big EXPLOSIONS…pew pew!!...sneaky, smart thrillers… sappy, romantic stuff…great animation...and, well, almost anything except horror. I'm way too imaginative and those things scare the bejeezus outta me.

I used to be a voracious reader, but for some reason, I can't settle down and read these days. Too much zoom zoom in the tank to sit still that long. When I do read, it's often sci-fi or fantasy. Hard-core or the more cultural stuff. Love C.J. Cherryh, because she swings both ways. Ursula K. Leguin. Peter Hamilton. (Pandora's Star contains the VERY BEST biological description of an alien race ever.) Charles DeLint, Neil Gaiman, Guy Gavriel Kay, Sherri Tepper, Patricia McKillip, Orson Scott Card.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
People who meet me in deep, authentic, exciting, wide-open, conscious relating.

Affectionate touch

More of that
Bacon & coffee
My MacLappie and The Amazing Interwebbie!
Nature time, tree love, star-gazing
My glorious, effervescent kiddos

[I can too count!]
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Beauty and Grace and all the many ways it shows up around me in the world. I am breathless with it some days.

Catalyzing transformation. Mine, other’s, the world’s.

Conscious relationships.

Do I have enough bacon in the fridge?
On a typical Friday night I am

Out of town or out on the town
Watching a movie or watching the sunset
Imagining food, creating food, sharing food, digesting food
In the tub or scheming to get in the tub
Connecting with friends or connecting with myself
The most private thing I’m willing to admit

I'm an open book. There's nothing I wouldn't say about myself in front of a stadium.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You got Joy and you know how to use it. :D

You have a practice of self-inquiry. You like to share what you find. You wanna swap stories of transformation and discovery.

You take responsibility for your experience in the world. You like hanging with other people who do the same.

You're happy and you've got it together. Bonus points for funny, sharp, open-minded & tolerant. Extra special super-duper bonus points if you know how to play.

You’re passionate about what you do. You work hard at whatever that is.

You're physically affectionate, know what you like sexually, and aren't shy about it.

Any of it. You think testing is way sexxay. (note: my body appears to get excited about other bodies (male and female) that are physically fit and *generally* less than 6 feet tall--exceptions to the rule keep things interesting).

You think you can out-text me (hah!)

Something you’ve read leads you to want to connect (oooooh!!! What??! Tell me!) ...*besides* our match %. That is just completely totally uninteresting as a basis for connecting. I will not write you back if all you share with me is "hey we have a high match! Check me out!"
