I am intelligent, loyal, and childish.

My Self-Summary

My name's Traci. I come from the foothills of the Sierra Nevada in California. This means I have charming touch of red on my neck. Luckily, I was able to get out of there and now live in the big city of Sacramento.

I've spent a lot of time and energy at school, I'm currently working towards my Master's Degree, so I have a very low tolerance for ignorance. That being said, my favorite characters in books, TV shows and movies tend to be the painfully stupid ones. I guess I'm full of contradictions.

I'm not big into sports, I find them boring and dangerous to my person. I did take Karate for a few months, but my schedule does not allow me to take it again.

I am a huge biblio and videophile. I own an obscene amount of books and DVDs, but I really just don't want to get rid of them.

I am most definitely an animal person. My dream is to own a huge house with tons of acreage. The acreage for the many, many animals I wish to own and the house, well, I just want one room so I can recreate the library from Beauty and the Beast.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm currently in the Master's program for Literature. I plan on going on to the PhD program to study Gothic Lit.

I’m really good at

overanalyzing everything.

The first things people usually notice about me

my hair. At least that's what everyone comments on.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: I'm a Graduate Student in the English Department, this could take a while. My absolute favorite book is The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle. I also greatly enjoyed The Princess Bride by William Goldman, both books are fantastic satires on the fantasy genre. I'm also a huge fan of Edgar Allan Poe, Emily Dickinson, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Henry James, J.R.R. Tolkien, George Orwell, Anne Rice, and Oscar Wilde. I'm also huge fan of Graphic Novels (I'm trying to get into the Deadpool series, but I'm having a hell of a time finding the comics) and Manga (mainly Death Note and anything by CLAMP).

Movies and Television: I'm a bit of a videophile, so this will take quite a while. Lately I've been watching a lot of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Supernatural. I also enjoy Psych, Dead Like Me, Batman (1960, but anything Batman, really), almost anything by Hayao Mizaki, Penn & Teller: Bullsh!t, South Park, Family Guy, Futurama, Firefly, Get Smart, Doctor Who, Torchwood, In Living Color, Disney Films, Eerie Indiana, Are you Afraid of the Dark? and really anything by Quentin Tarantino (we both have a very twisted sense of humor). The movies I really enjoy are The Labyrinth, The Princess Bride, The Last Unicorn, and anything by Mel Brooks (I almost own all of them, just a few more...)

Music: I like classic rock a lot. My absolute favorite band is Queen. I also enjoy Coheed and Cambria, Aerosmith, My Chemical Romance (they did a song based on "A Rose for Emily" by Faulkner, I can't hate them), Stephen Lynch, Suga Shikao, Kansas, and so much more.

Food: I love Strawberries, love, love, love them. And Chinese food (I'm Jewish, so you shouldn't be surprised).

Although I like many things I am also full of hatred. Here's the big hatreds I have: Melville and Hemmingway (I want to unbury them and punch them in the face). And the Twilight series. Gah, don't get me started. Just know that if you like the series, don't let me know.

The six things I could never do without

My big book of Poe, food, water, shelter, toilet paper (the soft kind), a communication device.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

The future.

On a typical Friday night I am

Doing homework, or hanging with my friends.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

Books with animals that are given human-like features scare the bejesus out of me. For example, I freaked out reading Watership Down by Richard Adams and couldn't finish it.

You should message me if

Well, just message me. If I'm not interested I'll write you a nice little "Dear John" note, or I'll ignore your message completely.
