Recently I have been trying to discover the wonder of owning a dSLR. Some random things about me: I have often been accused of talking about fictional characters as if they are real people. I can be intense and passionate in a discussion, and I love to talk with people who have different points of view. I can be a bit competitive and stubborn, but I am also generous and tenderhearted.

I love good conversation and the outdoors (campfires, sunshine, fresh snow, and thunderstorms are divine). I'm pretty laid back, and I also love a good adventure. I thoroughly enjoy a good movie or a great book, and I have an affinity for wanting to discuss what I've read or watched with other people. I love entertainment that makes me think.

I also make amazing milkshakes.

I am a PhD student and single mom. I study the languages and history of ancient Iraq. It is much cooler than I just made it sound. I get to study dead languages and read clay tablets that have been around for thousands of years. I like it.

Favorite books: A River Runs Through It, The Picture of Dorian Gray, The Lord of the Rings, Till We Have Faces, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Hiding Place, Les Miserables, and many others. I love to read.

Favorite movies: A River Runs Through It, Inception, The Lord of the Rings, Stranger than Fiction, Stardust, Serenity, and many many more. I have a hard time picking favorites (there is just so much to love!). I run a monthly movie group. The Painted Veil might be my favorite movie group pick yet.

I could keep talking about favorite things, but I'll leave it to you to ask me. I really love music and food (Indian and Thai are at the top of this list), so this section could get a bit long.

The ways in which my (and everyone else's) ideas are inherited from a vast history of past ideas and experiences. What can I say? I like ideas.

Swing dancing, hanging with the munchkin (we like to have dance parties and blow bubbles), having dinner or playing games with friends, or studying/working.

If I sound like someone you'd like to get to know, and you can deal with dating a Mormon. If you have a good head on your shoulders, and you enjoy using it. (I don't expect to be with a scholar, but I would like to be with someone who can keep up in and add to an intellectual conversation.) A cheerful disposition is always fantastic. Also, it is a big bonus if you know how to Lindy Hop (and you're willing to dance with me).
