My Self-Summary

I moved back to Seattle from Chicago and wanted to branch out from the awesome friends I've made already. My goal the last year has been to see as much of Seattle and the surrounding areas as I can. When I find a spare minute, I love to hop in the car and see where I end up. Recent impromptu trips have included Westport, along the Skykomish river and 101 around the Olympics.

Other recent adventures have included taking a two month long glassblowing class this summer, a long roadtrip through the American West (ID, MT, WY) and made the dive into buying my first digital SLR.

I'm a total sucker for magic tricks, cheesy puns and tide pools. My degree's in theatre and film, and I'm always up for seeing a show. For those who use it as a gauge, Myers-Briggs categorizes me as an ENTJ.

What I’m doing with my life

There's no grand plan yet! I'm enjoying seeing where the winds take me. In my free time I'm big on seeing as much as I can, hanging out with friends and generally keeping things low-key. I've made great friends here, but nobody who really makes my heart flutter.

Professionally, I work for a social media software startup- I love the challenge of staying sane in a startup and getting to (being forced to?) learn about all the craziness that's out there on the internet.

I’m really good at

I'm good at keeping houseplants alive, making banana bread and giving common sense advice.

I'm really bad at remembering birthdays, keeping my opinion to myself and making pancakes.

The first things people usually notice about me

I have no idea. Apparently it's that they think I'm trustworthy and/or their confidant, as people like to divulge deep dark secrets within hours of meeting me. Sometimes it's fun, sometimes it makes me uncomfortable, mostly I'll just listen and take it in stride.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I'm better at choosing authors- Colin Thubron sucks me into his world, David Sedaris makes me laugh out loud, Douglas Adams creates brilliant worlds and Walter Moers reminds me of the imagination I had as a kid. I will say, I just finished Ender's Game and loved it, even though it was profoundly disturbing.

I'm a movie addict and I've had a Netflix account since 2004. Anything but horror/gore and we're good- I'll give most movies a chance, no matter how bad or how much hype they get. My Netflix queue swings from Pixar to documentaries, from action thrillers to comedies.

My last.fm (http://www.last.fm/user/ihatejazzhands) is usually pretty up to date, so feel free to judge my (lack of) cool kid cred. Recent favorites have included: Owl City, Al Green, Blue Scholars, Ani DiFranco, Sigur Ros, Brother Ali, Iron & Wine and Ray LaMontagne.

The six things I could never do without

In no particular order, substituting "nouns" for "things", and ignoring all the basic survival requirements:

-Wikipedia
-Sex and affection
-Winter weather
-Awkward moments
-Naps
-Tide pool exploration

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Similarities between origin myths and folk tales worldwide. I think there's something connective about the common themes in folk tales that could give insight into the things that are unique to the human experience.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I have to have my feet uncovered while I sleep and I secretly love fake tv wrestling.

You should message me if

You think we have something in common, or you just want to tell me a story/make me laugh.

If you're local I'm probably going to push to meet in-person early because I'm not looking for an email buddy; pick something you enjoy and we'll go explore.

I have a weakness for big hands, laugh wrinkles, interesting scars and scruffy facial hair, so extra points if you have any of those.

(As a general note on romantic relationships with me, if you're already married/in a committed relationship/poly, we're probably not going to work out. Nothing wrong with that, I'm just picky about sharing so you'll have to stay in the friend zone.)
