Books: Discworld, The Invisibles, Preacher, history stuff, The
Guyver, Ranma 1/2, Akira, Transformers, Marxist classics. I also
read a fair bit of anti-Marxist works, because I don't like simply
reaffirming the conclusions I've drawn to date; I actively seek out
points of view that conflict with my own. (So far, every time I've
read a renowned anarchist, neoclassical or left liberal treatise my
conclusion has boiled down to 'well, that's clearly bollocks.') I
keep bugging my local library to fill the gaps in their collection
of Y: The Last Man; what I've read of it was pretty good stuff. And
I love Viz, an' all; trying to get submissions published, and I'm
Facebook friends with him who draws the Drunken Bakers. That's
right, look impressed.
Telly: I actually lived with no TV for a year and didn't miss it
one bit. But I did have DVDs and internet, so that doesn't count as
no telly, not really. Either way: Archer, Yes Minister, Police
Squad, Daria, PhoneShop, TMWRNJ, Blackadder, Beavis &
Butt-head, King of the Hill, Star Stories, Brass Eye, Monk, Walking
Dead, blah blah etc. Graham Linehan always seems to produce the
goods. Also, The Goon Show. It's not telly; it's better. It's like
a podcast you could only stream at a certain time.
Films: Aliens, A Town Called Panic, Natural Born Killers, Twelve
Angry Men, Big Lebowski, Die Hard, Idiocracy, Some Like it Hot,
Wall Street, Falling Down, Laputa, Terminator 2, The Sting, All
Music: Mostly harder stuff - Pantera, Public Enemy, Dead Kennedys,
Crystal Castles, NIN, Otep, Ramones, Placebo, KMFDM, Black Sabbath.
Aside from headbanging stuff: Presidents of the United States of
America, Beastie Boys, Buddy Holly, George Formby, Tchaikovsky,
Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Rolling Stones. And I listen to game
soundtracks; not modern stuff with all licensed acts, but bleepy
old school Nintendo, Capcom and Enix stuff.
Food: Love Thai. And I get a lot of love for my vegan cuisine.
Haven't tried my ocean pie? Well, then.
Standup: Yeah, I'm breaking your mould, OkCupid. Whatchagonnado?
