piquant, salient, and effervescent
My self-summary Propose an edit
Me. Female, highly energetic, optimistic, musical, talented,
dreamer, artistic, honest, caring, passionate, quirky, extroverted,
vegetarian, performer, nerd, learner, reader, friend, lover,
sister, my own master, feminist, too much for some to handle,
independent, loyal, dork, sarcastic, flaming liberal, and so much
more than can be expressed through adjectives and adverbs....
More energy and curious drive than most. I love to learn. I
constantly have creative schemes and ideas for projects bubbling
around in my brain.
I like to consider myself open minded and caring. I love
intellectual conversations and being silly. Passion is something I put into every
aspect of my life. I'm a huge fan of music. Listening to it and
performing it
completes me. I like bike rides, sledding and flying kites. I like conversation over good coffee or tea and people watching. I like
foreign
films and foreign food. I like singing on
stage, in my shower, and walking down the street. I like coloring with crayons in
large coloring books. I also like to build sandcastles outside the
sandbox, so expect the unexpected.
What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit
I have officially survived my first year in New York city without
being disheartened, bankrupted or disillusioned by this place. I
think that's pretty remarkable. In fact, I've thrived. Since moving
to Brooklyn last September from the midwest my life has been
unbelievably charmed. After working as the assistant to the
owner/draper of a great costume shop in Manhattan for 8 months I
broke out on my own. I now work as a free lance costume design
assistant for theatre and sometimes film. I'm currently working on
some projects with some higher profile actors which makes life seem
pretty surreal, especially when Ethan Hawke compliments your hair
style. Although the days are sometimes long and grueling, they are
more often then not very satisfying and fun. I love creating things and
theatre has been my life for a while now. My existence is pretty
magical at the moment seeing as I can combine those two things for
a very decent paycheck.
When I'm not running my face off around the garment district or
sequestered in a theatre during tech rehearsals, you can often find
me tooling around the city on my bicycle, making vegan cupcakes
while watching the venture brothers with good friends, reading in
random parks/cafes/subway trains, as well as participating in
mischief and shenanigans in general.
I'm also in a band. We're a crazy fun 9 piece "glam folk" group
with a weird combination of instruments and more energy than a
freight train. I play french horn and sing with "The Dead River
Company."
I'm really good at Propose an edit
Not taking myself or the world too seriously. Taking New York by
the tail and making it my bitch. Getting tipsy on far too little
alcohol. Having the sense of humor of a twelve year old boy. Having
far too much energy for some to handle. I get a little excited
about being alive.
The first thing(s) people usually notice about me Propose an edit
My asymmetrical hair cut. My amazing vintage horn rim glasses. I found them at a
second hand store in Maine for only $3. Yes you should be jealous.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food Propose an edit

C) Lets just say I have a very eccletic musical tatste. I listen to
everything from Classical to Screamo to Indonesian folk music and
BEYOND! I'm also a bit of an indie rock elitist :) Also since my
recent purchase of a macbook the beauty of Podcasts has entered my
life. I am now a full on NPR podcast addict.
Architecture in Helsinki, Islands, The Knife, Andrew Bird, Band of
Horses, The Acorn, Battles, Beirut, Final Fantasy, Of Montreal,
Health, Genghis Tron, Her Space Holiday, Stars, Broken Social
Scene, Panda Bear, Grizzly Bear, Joanna Newsom, Spoon, Animal
Collective, Stars, Why, Xiu Xiu and so much more
D) Oh Food how I love thee. Seeing as I'm a very strict vegetarian I tend to
like things a lot of people would consider "health food." I also
adore Thai, Indian, and Turkish food. I have an unnatural obsession
with string cheese (I blame being from Wisconsin and having my
grandmother work in a cheese factory for 40 years). Garlic stuffed
olives have become something I crave more than is normal. I blame
the cheap and easy access to them in Italy.
The six things I could never do without Propose an edit
Friends, Music, a
good book, close personal contact (I'm a hugger), good food,
corrective lenses in the form of glasses or contacts (I am so
freakin' blind)
I spend a lot of time thinking about Propose an edit
How surreal and amazing living in this city is. Making up back
stories and goals for the people I see walking down the street.
Ways to actualize my creative goals/urges.
