I am thoughtful, witty, and dynamic.
My Self-Summary
I'm going the random route. I think I have a funny sounding laugh
but a stranger once told me that I "have the most wonderful laugh,
it is like music," she then walked away, which was strange. I've
been nearly struck by
lightning. I am terrible at foreign
languages but passed the foreign service test. I love
science but never took a
science class in college. I hate injustice and spent a lot of time
fighting
modern day slavery. I was
once attacked by a Black bear in Northern CA. I played
rugby, occasionally play
squash and
bike quite a bit. I'm
a great extemporaneous speaker. I love policy and deal with
politics. I love
books, the
beach and
bananas (and alliteration). I enjoy good
movies and love how
many classic movies I can see in the city. I know way too much
trivia], but am incompetent when it comes to remember things about
music--bands, song names, lyrics. I enjoy traveling, which I tend
to think of as a long adventure (opposed to those who think of it
as a series of items to check off a list). I get stopped often for
directions, which I think means I must have an affect of combined
beneficence and authority, but who knows. I once got a fortune
cookie that said "You will be fortunate in all things" and I feel
that's been pretty close to true. I read the
New York Times everyday.
Photography is
my most intense hobby. I love to cook and bake, but don't always
succeed. I've been to more than twenty countries, which isn't much
of a feat if you've spend anytime in continental Europe. One of my
best friends thinks that I can find the good and interesting in
anyone. That might be true, I'm very interested in people's
stories, and I think that anyone, upon close examination has a
great story. I'm a great storyteller, just not about my life in
this little box.
What I’m doing with my life
Sometimes I think I can change the world singlehandedly and forget
I need some help. I work for a small management consulting firm
that does all non-profit and government work. After a few years of
stuff like that I might go to some sort of graduate school.
I’m really good at
Inappropriately timed wit and puns. Navigating. Thinking. Brevity.
The first things people usually notice about me
I don't really know. I guess it might be my laugh.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books:
I read a lot of nonfiction. When a good friend recommends fiction,
I'll read it, but for some reason I don't seek it out. The Rise of
Theodore Roosevelt, Battle Cry of Freedom, All the King's Men,
Slaughterhouse Five, The Omnivore's Dilemma, Team of Rivals, Into
Thin Air
Movies:
Many good things, from Godfather to Pixar, from The Searchers to No
Country for Old Men, to romantic comedies like Sleepless in
Seattle. I really love movies, which makes my not seeking out
fiction books a little strange, but who said people have to make
sense? Apocalypse Now, On the Waterfront, A Few Good Men, Good Will
Hunting, Lawrence of Arabia, Lumière et compagnie, Wall-E
Music:
Alternative, Rock, Indie, Opera, Classical.
Food:
All food made properly is good, except olives; I can't deal with
the taste of olives for some reason.
The six things I could never do without
Water, sunlight, vitamin C, proteins, books, (mechanical) pencils.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I'm curious about almost everything, and rarely think about any one
thing for too long.
On a typical Friday night I am
At a restaurant or bar with (a) friend(s), or watching a movie, or
wondering around outside...
You should message me if
Generally I get along with people who are curious about the world,
passionate about something (doesn't have to be something I care
about), and have the ability to converse. Most of the woman I've
dated are those that I talk to for two hours with out realizing it.
If you think you're that person, than send me a message.
