My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.

I hale from the best state in the U.S., Minnesota, but have been living and working abroad for over 4 years now as an international school teacher. After 3 months in Vienna, I lived in Honduras for two years, and in August it will be just over two years in China. After thinking about moving back to the States, I decided that I wasn't quite done with China and Asia.

My style is a bit eclectic, and to be honest, I hate shopping and am a bit of a minimalist.

I'm a lover of knowledge, and one of my main goals in life is to travel and experience the world. When I'm visiting a place, I like to wander and just observe the way people live. It's about quality, not quantity, and that's one of the reasons why I couchsurf sometimes when I travel. After I move back to the U.S., I don't know how well I will cope with being detached from the ability to travel. Time will tell I guess.

When I have some free time, I like to go biking, walking the streets of Shanghai, playing sports, cooking, conversing, and of course, traveling.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
As of August, I will be teaching IB English B at a Chinese international school. In a year or two I might start grad school.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My blue eyes and naturally blond hair. Or perhaps my laid-back style grabs some people's attention (either seen as good or bad).

Where to start?

Food: I'm really not picky at all. There are very few foods that I'm not willing to give at least one try. Anything with some kick ranks high on my "like" meter (Thai, Indian, Mexican, etc.) I love to cook, but my kitchen here in Shanghai is minuscule :(

Books: "Last of the Amazons" by Steven Pressfield; "The Great Gatsby" by F. Scott Fitzgerald; "Candide" by Voltair; "The Beach" by Alex Garland; "The Stranger" by Camus; "Animal Farm" by George Orwell; "The White Tiger" by Aravind Adiga; I also read quite a bit of non-fiction

Movies: The Royal Tennenbaums, American Beauty, Amores Perros, Fiddler on the Roof, "Run, Lola, Run," Goodbye Lenin, Trainspotting, One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest, and more. During my free time, I watch quite a few documentaries and foreign films on Netflix. I also have a soft spot for stupid humor and satires.

TV: The Sopranos, Orange is the New Black, Mad Men, The Neighbors, Downton Abbey, Rome, The Tudors, Six Feet Under, Breaking Bad, Seinfeld, Super Fun Night, and Modern Family.

Music: The Strokes, The Rolling Stones (and other 60s and 70s rock), Foster the People, The Talking Heads, Lily Allen, Regina Spektor, The Killers, Michael Jackson, Madonna, MGMT, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Mumford and Sons, NOFX, The Clash, Julieta Venegas, The Greatful Dead, The Killers, and more...
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
- coffee
- the internet
- goals
- friends and family
- travel
(I can't think of a 6th thing right now)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
- My past and future
- Why things are the way they are
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Relaxing at home or out with friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
