What is your biggest plan for the year?

I haven't been on here as much as I normally have been, because I was dating someone for a while.

However, a recent incident has brought a couple of questions to mind, which involves flirting.

How much flirting, not directed toward that boyfriend or girlfriend, is ok when you are in a relationship?

And is there a difference in types of flirting that would make certain kinds ok? Is blatantly sexual flirting on the internet wrong?

Ok, so I sent off an email to the President.

I'm prepared for the Secret Service to haul me off to jail, as I'm livid at the financial bailouts, and said so in my email.

Henry Paulson, a former head of Goldman-Sachs, is doing nothing more than helping his cronies at the other investment banks, AIG, Fannie Mae, & Freddie Mac, which will potentially cost us, the taxpayers, $1,666 for every man, woman, and child. Yep, that is a HALF A TRILLION DOLLARS!

This idiot, along with Fed Chairman Bernanke and former Fed Chairman Greenspan, did NOTHING to help protect the US Citizen from financial abuses.

Barney Frank, as head of the House Committee on Financial Services, and Senate Banking Committee Chairman Christopher Dodd, as well as their predecessors, deserve a huge amount of blame, too.

This all happened because the President did not care enough about our economy to do some serious work on it, in the same vein as not doing enough about jobs, manufacturing, trade imbalances, energy prices, and other things that are killing our country economically. Mr. Bush has a current approval rating hovering around 25%. He is the only president to have a rating in the teens, back in February. It is entirely possible for his approval rating to go to single digits.

I don't care who is elected President in November. He better freakin' pay pay attention to our economy.

This is step one. Now I will start talking to political friends.

Politicians don't grow overnight!

I'm often dismayed by those who think that politicians were born yesterday.

No, like Barack Obama, they often work for years in their community doing various things.

I often go to the local city assembly meetings and witness the people sitting in the chairs in the audience. Lo and behold, years later these people end up running for office. Even more years pass by and they possibly move up to the county level. Eventually they might even make it to the state level. If they are really active they make it to the national level.

People who vote are often confused about the strategy that individuals have used to achieve advancement in the political process. Typically, I hear them say that the politicians have no good ideas, can't fix problems, etc. as if this is how these people got elected. Unfortunately, having good ideas rarely helps move them up the ladder. It is the constant work they do from the community level on up that gets them elected.

If you want to make a change, it is often not good enough just to vote. A lot of politicians have formed the ideas, whether good or bad, at the local level. Just once you might go to these local meetings and stand up and shout when someone in power says something idiotic.

About seven years ago a fellow convinced me to be general manager of his local newspaper. One of the things I did was interview a City Council member, and the primary question I asked, was, "What are your best ideas for making this city a better place to live?" This person was widely regarded, loved, and usually won in a landslide. You know what her answer was? She said, "I can't think of anything. I think the budget needs attention." She got elected anyway.

Politicians need to be held accountable from day one.

My 17 year-old is into politics, and we have a lot of family up there into politics, at all points of the spectrum (Repubs, Dems, Libertarians, and independents).

Maybe the state won't go down the toilet because of the lack of an economy now...
