My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Outdoor enthusiast and ambivert.

I love running, biking, hiking, rock climbing, but also sitting in cafes writing. I work on weekdays, cook or eat out on weeknights, and drive to Marin or further afield for hiking and climbing almost every weekend. My goal is actively consuming and participating in the world, not just passively watching it go by. Sometimes I pull it off. Looking for someone to share the adventure.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Work. Play. Repeat. I took most of last year off, it was probably the best summer of my life since when I was 6 and caught lizards and mice in a trap I built in the woods. I always let them go.

I stay fit but I'm not an ironman candidate.. it's more to maintain a level of conditioning that fits with whatever activities my friends might throw at me.

Also, indoor hobbies: writing, in sporadic episodes, a journal that accretes meaning as words collect on pages: impressions of my unapologetically subjective world. It's a dilettante project but maybe it will become a book someday. I'm always trying to find the right balance of thinking and doing.

I hold a management role at a growing company. My career has been a source of inspiration for me, I am nourished by my accomplishments and by those of my close friends and partners.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Over-dressing. I've been called out on this many times. Also, last minute trips to Yosemite, to wine country, to Santa Cruz. Buying one way plane tickets. Minimalist living. Making cocktails out of whatever is in your kitchen. Restaurant recommendations. Making spotify playlists. I am a decent cook, recently I have discovered leeks and am trying to integrate them into every dish. I enjoy cooking for someone special.

That I am not wearing flannel, though I live in SF. Also, I've been told I have a very easygoing personality. Which is .. good? That said, I tend to take life seriously. I'm always looking for more, for the meaning behind things, being thankful that the sea is the shade of green that it is and that I have been so fortunate to cultivate a deep relationship with the geography around me and the friends I can share life with.

I found out about Derek Walcott after reading a review in the New Yorker. His collected poetry in "Midsummer" is amazing and embodies my favorite style of writing, in which nothing at all happens but that nothing sure is beautiful.

I have discovered some great bands by reading cool peoples' okc profiles. My contribution: Odesza. Black Dub. RJD2. Ben Howard. Emancipator. DJ Cam. Sbtrkt. Mum. Mice Parade. Okkervil River. Mr Little Jeans.

On literature, I've read and enjoyed Murakami and Joyce and Hemingway and Nabokov and Garcia Marquez and I hope America can have another author as good as Faulkner someday. The Tiger's Wife was good too. Somewhat of an aesthete, I prefer belles lettres to the content itself.

Almost forgot the food part – I am supposed to write "sushi" here. I enjoy my slow local farm raised food but I don't see it as inherently containing enough meaning that people can bond over it. As a medium perhaps, but not an end in itself. That said, please don't make me eat Italian food in North Beach!
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Things that nourish the mind - TED talks, travel, conversation with intelligent people.

And things that nourish the spirit - sunrises, music, poetry, affection.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Whether solipsism is a personality trait induced by city living or merely a non-causal emergent property.

Whether I should run all the way to the bridge or stop at the warming hut.

Whether okcupid is actually working against my odds of meeting someone in the "real world" by providing a competing medium for social interaction. So this account is a hedge. Homo economicus strikes again!
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
At [cool venue name], listening to [obscure indie band], reading [New Yorker or some David Foster Wallace novel]. How did you like my attempt at okcupid humor? (insert sound of crickets)

I am sometimes out and sometimes cooking dinner at home, and sometimes starting a road trip. Do you like road trips?
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I sometimes change my age on okc. It has a surprising influence on search results. I am 35.

Also I keep my passport on the coffeetable to inspire me to travel. It is almost full but it's the same stamp repeated 50 times, not so impressive.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You're happy, most of the time. Your idea of dating is seeing someone more than once a week. You are athletic or just naturally fit and love the outdoors. You like dialog for its own sake. Maybe you even spell it the British way. You have a great idea for what to do with my Starwood hotel points. You can cook a mean omelette. Am I asking too much? Ok I'll settle for pancakes :)
