My self-summary
Hi, I'm Chelsea!
A good friend once called me a "creative mess," and that's how I like to introduce myself. I am a bundle of mixed media, overlapping wires, and probably some mustard; I put that stuff on everything.
What I’m doing with my life
I have a few more weeks as a student of UGA. I'm an R.A., and a member of the 2014 English Education cohort. Once graduated, I'll be certified to teach grades 6-12. It's been a fantastic journey, but life seems so very short that I think I'll find myself in several jobs. Working with a nonprofit resource for the homeless and impoverished is a new dream of mine, but I could also see myself working for the EPA, or something. I'll start as an educator, and go with God, I guess.

I like writing and will one day produce something really great, but until then, I'm just gonna carry around that tiny notebook of mine in my utopian pocket full of sunshine. Right beside my belief in a just world. :P

The goal is simply to be happy, to appreciate every experience, to "live awake," and facilitate all that goodness for others.
I’m really good at
Artsy stuff your grandma does, sans cooking. Haha. I enjoy writing and spoken word poetry, and I've gotten some nice feedback. :) I paint, knit, and do generally cutesy re-purposing on occasion.

Being driven. I never half-bake stuff unless I absolutely run out of time. It's important to me to pour myself into whatever task I take on.

Finding cracks no one else could notice in the sidewalk and then tripping over them.

Filling up silence with humming, whistling, singing, beatboxing, and other verbal twitches.
The first things people usually notice about me
I get really jazzed up about things. I may say hi to you as if I haven't seen you in a while when it's been a couple days. I adamantly defend the people and things I'm passionate about and I get pretty irate if I feel people aren't taking it seriously.

...I am also very pale. Always fun when that comes up in conversation.

Music:
I love live music. I never pass up the opportunity to flail around in public and get all dopamine-saturated and sweaty. The two best concerts I have been to featured my favorite bands, Los Campesinos! and Motion City Soundtrack. Other favorites include:

Jazz, contemporary stuff like Bonobo.
Bands that are gritty in their own right, including Sleigh Bells, The Tallest Man on Earth.
Breezy "hold on, it's time for a shout chorus" sort of indie junk. Also indie with a bit of a cultural identity, like Trampled by Turtles, Of Monsters and Men, Mumford and Sons, and Flogging Molly.

Food:
Asian food in general, and every kind.
I have a strange obsession with oranges, making me highly unlikely to ever contract scurvy.
I have also been drinking coffee since I was ten, so that's something close to the heart.
My favorite food is my mom's chicken salad on sourdough, but I usually eat like a vegetarian. Lots of fruit n' foliage.
The six things I could never do without
1. A sense of humor
2. Coffee and various types of tomato soup (You know that Ginsberg line about "seeking jazz or sex or soup?" I know he's critiquing "kids these days," but who WOULDN'T be up for any of those things?)
3. My parents....No, really. They are a great support. Every time I think I've hit a wall, they still root for me.
4. Coincidences that seem way to good to be true
(God-incidences)
5. Excessively long walks
6. Cool stuff to look forward to
(Example: I am hiking the Appalachian Trail when I graduate, then couch-surfing through Jersey to see my best friend/where my relatives grew up).
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How to achieve happiness. Really. You know how sometimes you stumble across something that makes you feel incredibly alive and inspired and ready to create something great? I always search for more than my day-to-day contentedness.

I think a lot about people and what makes them tick, philosophy and what's "right," God and what he's trying to steer me toward.

I think about stories. Stuff that's happened, stuff that's still true even though it hasn't, "the big picture," and what I crazy trip my part in it is going to be.

I think about the color orange, my childhood attempts to astral travel and how I wish that could work, who I'd be if I were in the 1920's, the 1850's. Black. Male. Profound things said by someone in passing. Venice and Greece. Travel and incense and messy creative spaces. Words like crisp and blend and moratorium. Softest of soft blankets and bonfires I'd like to gather around.
On a typical Friday night I am
With my friends watching a so-bad-it's-good movie, walking around the Athens suburbs having "real talk," attending a party where most everyone knows each other, or cozying up with my S.O, when he or she exists (hint: he or she does not).
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
There are about four songs that make me cry for various memory-based reasons. If you play them, I will cry enchanted razorblades. Which will chase you. And then we shall not be friends.
