My self-summary
My name is Alexander (Alex for short), I'm a artist, student, and enthusiastic fan of many comics, TV shows, books, etc. I like going to conventions, but it's becoming less and less monetarily viable. I also like big words.

Kyle_Po gave me: Friends In Real Life
Awarded Mar 4, 2011

“My friend here is a kind, loving and very giving Soul. I would know because he would listen to me for hours on end on the phone while I blathered away about silly things.

You would be a fool not to date this person. A FOOL I SAY!!!”

I believe in being yourself. I believe in being polite. I believe that love is fluid. I believe that faith is fluid. I believe in letting go of your inhibitions once in a while. I believe in freedom. I believe in late nights and early mornings, but preferably not at the same time. I believe that you can have dinner in front of the TV without it being a TV dinner. I believe that reading a book is the best adventure that anyone can have. I believe in giving people the benefit of the doubt. I believe that animals give unconditional love. I believe that hugs and kisses can make any day a little better.

I've also recently adopted a strong belief that no matter what happens, everything will be alright. Even if the world ends tomorrow, it'll be alright, for any number of reasons. Along with this, I've come to believe that everyone should try to do more than exist. Everyone should make an effort to do something, something that has an impact. I will not be my wasted life.

My world revolves around music. Not bands or singers or celebrities, but music. Sound. Instrumental, vocal, electronic, it doesn't matter. When I'm writing or drawing, I like to fit in music wherever I can. I have recently received a violin and am determined to learn it (

My stance on drugs takes a bit more definition than OKC provides. I've tried hookah and I like it, and given the chance I would probably go do it again. However, my family has a history of addictive behavior, and I don't want to get caught up in that.

One other thing I would like to point out is that I can be pretty shy sometimes, but mostly in the sense that I feel like I might be bothering people. So if you want to talk to me, talk!! I'm just not that great at starting a conversation.
What I’m doing with my life
I've just graduated from Arts Institute of San Diego, studying in the Media Arts and Animation major. My portfolio is currently built for 2D visual development, but I think the point of an artist is to always improve and expand, so that's a thing.

I'm working on getting in better shape, which I have recently given a swift kick in the pants by starting on the Atkins diet. It's a little rocky starting out, but we'll see where this goes. Hopefully it goes towards a healthier me!
I’m really good at
Being enthusiastic.
Baking, but I don't have an oven right now so baking adventures are on hold.
Finding new and exciting things to be interested in.
Drawing.
Swimming. Mostly in pools, but I'm okay in the ocean on calm days.
Being really, really weird. And I claim that for myself, no self-depreciation here.
Reading, I guess, but I generally assume a lot of people are good at that. I really love books.

And one thing I'm really NOT good at: understanding irony. I really, really just... don't get it. I get sarcasm, I can use it and detect it about 50% of the time, but not irony.
The first things people usually notice about me
You'd have to ask them. I don't really get a lot of comments on my looks or how I act in public. But the women in my family can't get over my hair. It's really thick, and they really like that for some reason. I find it a little annoying.

I have to be wearing something really noticeable for strangers to make a comment. Like, I once had these bright blue Oakley frames for my prescription glasses.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
BOOKS: Harry Potter series, Wicked (and following books), Lord of the Rings (still reading), Alice in Wonderland, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, The Lorax, and most books required through junior high and high school. I'm kind of a bibliophile in that I'm a voracious reader. If you have a book to suggest, I'll probably give it a look.

COMICS: (this is legit, trust me) Homestuck, Hanna Is Not A Boy's Name, Batman, Spiderman

MOVIES: Labyrinth, Robin Hood: Men in Tights, Princess Bride, Love Actually, Repo! The Genetic Opera, Freddy vs. Jason, Watchmen, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, The Dark Knight, Wrath of Khan, Fight Club, How to Train Your Dragon, Sherlock Holmes

TELEVISION: House, Fringe, Shameless, Glee, Doctor Who, Dexter, Sherlock, and My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Haters can leave now.

MUSIC: The Beatles, Gorillaz, Green Day, Cloud Cult, Vitamin String Quartet, Michael Bowman, Good Charlotte, Ani Difranco, Lady Gaga, and the Killers. However, I have over 5500 songs in iTunes and many more artists than listed here. I am open to any new music at all, and often listen to the radio specifically so I can expose myself to new songs and artists.

I should make a note here, I think: with any given band or artist, they will have at least one song that I like/love, no matter what.

FOOD: I'm cautious of spicy food, but otherwise pretty open about what I eat. I've been called an adventurous eater many times.
The six things I could never do without
Besides the obvious of food, air, and water...

Friends, music, drawing supplies, the Internet, books, and my binder for now.

I'd like to have "at least one animal" on here, but my beta fish just died and I'm not able to get a new pet right now.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
My life goals, how awesome the universe is.

I think about how I believe in a lot of things that aren't scientifically real, but I am also very much a supporter of science. Long story short: science is a miracle.
On a typical Friday night I am
On my computer, at home. Maybe doing artwork, maybe looking for a job, but most likely just browsing the Internets. I live in the Normal Heights/North Park area and spend a lot of time in Hillcrest, so there's a chance I could be out.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I keep a lot of things bottled up until I consider it safe to let them out.

That's the private thing, not a statement about things I'm willing to admit.
I’m looking for
  • Everybody
  • Ages 20–25
  • Near me
  • For long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
If you're nice. If you think I'm interesting. If you like music. If you don't mind/care how weird I am. Or if in fact you like how weird I am! Above all, if you want to.

I would like to make note here that I am definitely on the fringe as far as self-identities go. I am FTM agender, I am polyamorous, my sex drive is wibbly-wobbly, and I am panromantic. If you know what any of that means, or are willing to learn what all of that means, you should definitely message me.
