My self-summary
Kind. Caring. Devoted mama. Critical thinker. Social justice minded. Real. Outdoorsy but not a hiker, biker, runner sort. Not a "bean pole". Somewhat sarcastic. Somewhat serious. And a lot of other things...as we all are...

Looking for somethin' good with someone great...
What I’m doing with my life
-Consciously parenting.
-Working just enough to get by.
-And lately...soaking up the summer sun.
I’m really good at
How about I really like:

Cooking, especially together, and when there's another grown-up to do this with. Veggie gardening, though this year it's just tomatoes. Farmer's markets. Thrift store shopping. Taco bus take-out and back-to-back episodes of Orphan Black. Long walks. Long talks, particularly with wine in hand.
The first things people usually notice about me
People notice...I'm nice, I'm short, I wear glasses...I dunno...
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Reads: I usually read stuff that pertains to whatever seems pertinent in my life. So like parenting books, nursing journals, real food blogs...

Movies: I'm most into series shows like: Six Feet Under, Sons of Anarchy, United States of Tara, The Wire, Scandal, Orphan Black.

Music: indie/alt country, 60's/70's rock, strong women in rock, bluegrass, hip hop. Mostly seem to listen to NPR on the way to/from work these days...

Food: Into the whole real food thing....organic, grass fed beef, fermentation, sourdough, etc... And at the same time, I'm not at all a food snob. I have my ideals and all but I love a diner omelet and coffee or a dive bar for a cheap burger, fries and a watered down beer. Also, I'm super into enjoying food and not at all into the fat phobia that consumes our culture...so eat/drink up and enjoy I say!
The six things I could never do without
-my daughter -connection -down time -hope, plans, possibility
-good grub/beer/wine -probably a lot of other random stuff too...
I spend a lot of time thinking about
-How to nuture kindness, empathy, self-confidence, creativity, self-awareness (etc...) in my daughter. -Continuing to heighten my awareness of issues of social justice in order to make small and large changes in my life and others lives. -Body positivity i.e. loving my body and others bodies just how it is/they are, not despite how it is/they are. -How to relax and enjoy life.
On a typical Friday night I am
Drinking wine and watching brainless t.v. and then snuggling up to my daughter in bed. Saturday nights can sometimes be a little more adventurous...
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I drive my grandma's car. When she passed, she gave it to my mom. When my mom passed, I inherited it. ...Which sounds like it could be cool, except it's not even vintage or anything...just a beat up, scratched up, dirty Kia. But I'm good with it ;)

Oh, and I've dated women...so there's that...in case that's a big deal to you.

  • Everybody
