My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm a bundle of contradictions—practical and spontaneous, formal and casual, goofy and intense, gregarious and shy, optimistic and realistic. A wonderful decades long career in business—marketing and sales, low tech and high tech.. Left that world to follow a life-long dream to work full-time as an artist.

My ideal date would be warm and light-hearted; curious about the world and hungry to learn new things about it; and comfortable in a wide-variety of settings. It's not too hard to make me laugh, and big bonus points for you generally cheery guys.

I'm sure we will have some interests in common, and I'm hoping you bring some of your world to me, because there is so much more to discover. A few of my favorite things include: James Turrell, James Gurney, Agnes Martin, Mark Rothko, Eric Fischl, Jay De Feo, Sargent, Sorolla, Matisse; Colbert, Dexter, Luther, Orange is the New Black, Breaking Bad, Battlestar Galactica, Prime Suspect, Top of the Lake, Madmen; Burma Super Star, dosas and curries, Peruvian tapas, pizza at Pizetta, my friend Tia's cooking; Istanbul, London, Los Angeles, Berlin, Spain, The Dolomites, Sonoma, all National Parks, hiking, biking and road trips; NY Times, NY Review of Books, New Yorker (sensing a pattern here?); David Mitchell, Kate Atkinson, Mary Roach, Julian Barnes, Sebastian Barry; quirky independent and foreign films, especially the Danes, Woody Allen, Werner Herzog documentaries, Exit Through the Gift Shop, Prometheus, Alien, all the James Bonds; pretty much all forms of music, my IPod has an impossibly ridiculous number of tracks on it, in particular Gillian Welch, Ry Cooder (his forays into world music), Mozart, world music, and pretty much any music featuring sax or mandolin (though together might be kind if interesting...).
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Living a life committed to art, making it and writing about it (i.e. OPA, other people's art) on the blog I founded in 2008.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Following my curiosity; being resourceful & resilient; listening and problem solving; creative pursuits; laughing & being witty; cooking
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'd like to think it is my empathetic personality, sunny disposition and sense of humor.

I read a lot, fiction and non-fiction equally. I delve into a lot of art books, because making art is my life practice. Last books read include kate Atkinson's Life After Life, Mary Roach's Gulp, Gillian Flynn's Gone Girl; and Sebastian Barry's On Canaan's Side. NYTimes a staple; wish I could get to The New Yorker and NYROB more...

I enjoy well-written TV series—Breaking Bad, Top of the Lake, Homeland, Dexter, The Wire, Battlestar Gallatica, Luther, the list seems to get longer each year.

On the film side I enjoy pretty much every genre. Some of my 2012 favorites include Zero Dark Thirty, Argo, 2 Days in New York, Best Marigold Hotel, The Trip.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
