My self-summary
I'm pretty sure I'm with 96% of the world when I say that I'm not very good at describing myself in words. I'd like to think that I'm more interesting in person. I guess you could say I'm kinda nerdy, but I seem to be able to fit in with most social groups, barring the most superficial. My overall outlook on life can be rather cynical and pessimistic at times, but it's something I'm working on improving. I take joy out of the small things in life, but spend most of my time pondering the big picture, and how we all fit into it. I'm an honest and direct sort of person, so message me if you want to know more about me. I always do better with specific questions rather than vague "Describe yourself" boxes.
What I’m doing with my life
I've been doing the on again-off again thing with college for years. I'm not too sure where I'm going with it, and am terrified of tying myself down with a useless degree in a field I'll grow tired of. I'm also not that great at juggling the whole full-time work/full-time school gig. I've been on my own since I was seventeen, so for a long time it was easy to let work take precedence and let school simmer on a back burner.
I’m really good at
Trivia games. Seriously. Also, critical analysis and creative problem solving are skills that I've begun to highly value and thus cultivate in recent years. I can also carry on a conversation on just about any topic for a ridiculously long time. I love learning and teaching in equal measure, which means it's nearly impossible to run out of things to discuss, debate, and argue.
The first things people usually notice about me
My eyes are pretty cool. They're usually green, with some nifty variations from time to time. I'm pretty quick-witted and have a creepy good memory. When I remember nearly every stated detail of your personal life, don't flatter yourself into thinking I'm stalking you, I'm likely not. I'm just a once heard, always remembered sort of person. Also! I have a fuck lot of hair. For serious.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Ugh. This section. I've put off doing this rigorous and demanding section for as long as I felt I could. But I've come to realize it's one of the first--if not THE first thing I look at in other people's profiles. So it only seems fair that I should provide equal information of a reciprocal nature. To it, then:

Books: I love books. A lot. I own far more than I'd like to count and far more than I like to move. My tastes cover a reasonably broad breadth and depth, everything from literary fiction to physics primers. Favorite authors include: Douglas Adams, the Bronte sisters, Charles Bukowski, Lewis Carroll, Dostoyevsky, Umberto Eco, Neil Gaiman, Hemingway, Charles de Lint, George R.R. Martin, Nabokov, Rumi, Tolkien, Tolstoy, Vonnegut, David Foster Wallace, Dave Eggers, and Oscar Wilde.

Movies: They run with about the same expansive interests as the books. I love science fiction [think: Equilibrium, The Matrix, Serenity, and most definitely Star Wars and Star Trek], movies that make me laugh [Shaun of the Dead, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, and Snatch], and movies that make me feel [The Last Station, Wicker Park, and What Dreams May Come]. I'm also a huge fan of dark comedies [In Bruges, Thank You for Smoking, and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang] as well as classics [anything with either Hepburn (Audrey or Katherine), the Godfather trilogy, and The Wizard of Oz]. I'm also a sucker for anything with John Cusack in it and anything that's been directed by Wes Anderson.

Shows: I don't really do much television. The only things I watch with any recurring regularity are The Big Bang Theory, Game of Thrones, and Doctor Who. I loved the hell out of Battlestar Galactica and Arrested Development and [stereotypically] Firefly. I'm also a fan of English television, particularly the BBC Sherlock reboot and The IT Crowd.

Music: This is a topic that I could go on about at nearly as great of length as I can about books, so I'll try to keep it brief. I will give anything a listen, provided it isn't Tejano or Gospel music. Barring those two, I'll listen to anything. I enjoy classical, black metal, folk rock, pop from every decade, hip hop, Jazz, Delta Blues, and of course the ever annoying and vague "Capital "A" Alternative."

Food: I fucking love food and refuse to be censored on the topic. There aren't words to describe my love of good food. A well prepared and balanced dish made with fresh ingredients is the only thing that can even come close to being a good substitute for sex.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The future. Politics. My faults. Philosophical questions. What I'm planning on wearing tomorrow. My mind is a maze, and each turn of the corner brings up a whole new chain of thought, usually unrelated to the last.
On a typical Friday night I am
There is no typical. Sometimes work, sometimes friends, sometimes quality down time, sometimes sleeping. When I'm not in school my days tend to flow together, with no heed of weekends.
