I am happy, quirky, and kind.

My Self-Summary

In short, I am a generally nice person (but most people consider themselves better than they are), I have my moments good and bad, i am not the prettiest and no way the skinnest but I try to be happy with myself, I get dubbed "smart" but school smart, common sense can be lacking at times but I am a natural blond, i have secrets, i want to make new friends and not lose my old ones, my family loves me and I try my best to live up to the meaning of loving them back- love is hard because it requires you to push some of your interest aside but it is worth it, i hate spelling and I am so glad this has a backspace, I don't know everything, I think a lot, I daydream constantly, I love to laugh at myself, I choose to believe in many things, I have a hyper sense of responsibility and thats enough for now or this will no longer be short!

What I’m doing with my life

Job: I am a nurse with the Public Health Service so I'm a "Fed", a part of the establishment, and I have to remain hopeful that I can make a tiny difference that will lead to the sustainability and feasibility of government in general.

Outside of the Job: I am exploring...through books, through travel, through nature, and through discovering more about myself and the people around me.

I’m really good at

reading (I normally read a book in one 2-5 hours session- depending on the book of course), writing (I love to make words capture the essence of an idea), teaching (if I wasn't a nurse I'd be a teacher), arguing (in a nice way- i was a debater in high school so at least I can argue both sides thoroughly).

Now I haven't put anything physical on here so things that I like to do but I wouldn't say that I'm "great" at would include hiking, biking, horseback riding, traveling, and I went spelunking once and would love to again!

The first things people usually notice about me

My friendliness...I was mostly raised in the South...a smile is the greatest gift one can give!

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: I love the Sci-fi fantasy genre. It has been my niche for the last few years. Mostly people you haven't heard of it and even I haven't heard of them because I raid libraries and read the books so quickly that I remember the characters not the authors. So of the more prominent (hard core Sci-fi people will kill me) but Mercedes Lackey, Patrica Briggs, Jennifer Robinson, Lois McMaster Bujold.
Oh and yes I love the Lord of the Rings but I was also a sucker for the Twilight series.
My favorite book of all time though was not a Sci-fi book, it's about a boxer in south africa, called the Power of One by Bryce Courtenay. Stunning. I also love Pat Conroys Lords of Discipline and the Giver.
Enough about books, I love them but while I can loose myself for hours in them that's only one pf the pieces of me.

Movie favorites include Brave Heart, the Goonies, Star Trek, Ghost...I don't know my tastes are very broad from action to drama. I just don't like scary movies because I have literally ended up jumping up and landing on the floor. And then the movie doesn't leave me...like the creatures from the Descent made me scared of the dark for 3 days and the Ring (not considered scary by many) had me afraid of TV's for a day. When I say scared I mean spooked not deathly afraid, just on edge.

Music: I have a wide variety of likes here, electronica, folk music, some rap, some christian, A Capella is amazing, celtic/irish stuff rocks, a splash of country here and there, oh and I love alternative rock stuff, and the nineties. Don't forget some classic rock too. I judge each song and what I listen to depends on my mood and can affect my mood.

TV: This last year I have watched only a few things. Dexter on showtime is amazing (I don't have showtime this year if anyone has showtime and wants to have a Dexter watching party I'm all in!) I watch Greys Anatomy and Lost. Also I got hooked on America's Next Top Model...I know its shallow but its fun. I watch family guy ever once in a while as well.

Food: I love pasta, chicken, potatoes, steak, cheese, bread, fruit (apples, bannanas, pears, grapes, cherries), not many vegetables but I am trying to broaden my "healthy palate" (If you hide the vegetables I like them but please don't let me feel the onion go crunch). I dislike spicy food. And I will pick out things I don't like.

The six things I could never do without

my imagination
my family (friends become family)
sleep
my internal struggle with belief and disbelief, faith and rationalism
intelligent conversation
humor

I spend a lot of time thinking about

plans for the future whether that is one minute from now or 10 years. However I also avoid thinking about it too and simply daydream about different times and places.

On a typical Friday night I am

Well currently I work 6am on Sat so I should be in bed (should being the operative word)...but the gist of the questions is what do you do for fun. I love to dance but I do that by myself in my room so I don't mind if it is there or in an actual club. I like both big groups of people and small intimate settings. House parties are fun but you know what, so is playing a board game and barbecuing or hiking or simply cuddling. In many ways I'm not sure typical should describe anything. I do like patterns and comfortable things don't get me wrong, but each conversation can be an adventure and thus make the night not typical!

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'm pretty open with my thoughts and feelings (when I understand them myself) but I am in a transitional period in my life and it is really scary not to know what I'll be when I'm done...

You should message me if

you want to but it would be cool to know the reasons why you want to. What are you looking for? For real...

Knowing yourself (or trying to) and loving yourself (even if you're in transition) are important and necessary to answering that question.
