I am spunky, intelligent, and full of moxie.

My Self-Summary

I'm never quite sure what to say. I'm a music and book nerd who enjoys baking and cooking, and all things crafting. I have to admit that my poor roommate's closet has 13 long boxes of comics in it that are all mine. I'm a homebody, but I do like to go out on occasion. I'm ridiculously straightforward and I know what I want out of life. I have a degree in Philosophy and Religion from UNC Wilmington, so that basically means that working at a bookstore was my only option. I eventually want to go to grad school, but when I don't know. I'm independent, but I want a bit more adventure right now.

What I’m doing with my life

Right now I am a retail manager. I enjoy my job because it surrounds me with the things I am passionate about (books, movies, music, etc.) When I'm not working I'm usually just hanging out with friends or doing things to my house. I tend to be one of those people who will go out of their way to do something for someone else before doing something for me, so I'm trying to work on that.

I’m really good at

baking and playing piano. I'm trying to expand my cooking skills so I've started experimenting some with recipes. I think I was born in the wrong decade. The good thing is that there are always tasty treats in the house.

The first things people usually notice about me

is the unusually high amount of tattoos I have. Once they get past that and get to know me they tend to forget that they are even there.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

There are almost too many books to say because I work in a book store so I'm constantly reading. I enjoy certain authors quite a bit, like Chuck Palahniuk, Clive Barker, Kurt Vonnegut, Chuck Klosterman, Frank Beddor, Charlaine Harris, Jim Butcher, and Mike Carey. My favorite movies are Amelie, Maltese Falcon, Man Bites Dog, City of Lost Children, Dig!, Control, Dark Days, Hate, Breathless, cheesy '80's horror movies, and any Alfred Hitchcock or David Lynch. My musical tastes run all across the board, from Otis Redding, to Shellac, Big Black, Anita Lane, Bonnie "prince" Billy, Souls of Mischief, Herbaliser, Birthday Party, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, PJ Harvey, Bjork, UNKLE, Radiohead, DJ Shadow, Del the Funky Homosapien, Murder by Death, 16 Horsepower, Woven Hand, Slim Cessna's Auto Club, Godspeed You Black Emporer, Joy Division, Mazzy Star, Massive Attack, Hope Sandoval, Minor Threat, Fugazi, Man or Astroman, Magnetic Fields, Portishead, Dismemberment Plan, Miles Davis, Prince, Morris Day, Jolie Holland, Yann Tiersen, Edith Piaf, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Mos Def, Dirty Three, Black Heart Procession, 3 Mile Pilot, Cat Power, Lilium, Neko Case, Songs: Ohia, Magnolia Electric Company, MF Doom, Girl Talk, Pharcyde, Ice Cube, and a host of others etc. etc

The six things I could never do without

My kitten, my family, my records (and yes, I mean vinyl), books, and my journal.

On a typical Friday night I am

either working or hanging out with friends.
