My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Recent transplant. Yep. Recent as in, I've never seen spring or summer in Boston.

I guess I'm kind of a reformed hippie, which basically just means that I cut my dreads, went to college, and got a job where I have to wear nicer shirts, or did, now I'm in grad school and I can wear jeans again. I still love to go to concerts (48 Phish shows and counting), walk around in bare feet, or my 'those are so not in style' Teva sandals (yeah, I didn't think they were still made either until about a year ago), I still try to eat natural foods. I also, still, do not shave very often. Not that I have some scraggly mountain man beard, not even close. I'm just never clean shaven, it's more like perma-stubble. I'm kind of a beer geek. I like beer probably the way some people like or think about wine. And on top of that, I started putting my education to good use finally and started brewing my own beer. At this point I should probably add the disclaimer that I am not anything like a raging alcoholic. I heard someone say once that they liked beer too much to ever become an alcoholic, and I'm going to co-opt that and apply it to myself as well.

I am six foot, one, and tons o' fun.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Grad school for science-y things? Trying to avoid getting killed on my bike? Some flowery BS about making the world a better place or something?
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
- listing my attributes in bullet point format
- in all seriousness, lots of things. Some practical, some not so practical. For example, I'm really good at making fun of awful movies, but that's not something that translates well to the real world. I'm also a really good cook, but I almost never actually want to cook. (I worked in some swanky restaurants during college, which is how I learned how to cook, but after having to cook throughout college, I pretty much hate doing it now.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Well... if we're talking literally, then I'd have to say the first thing people notice is my face.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books - Mostly stuff by Vonnegut, Sedaris, or Douglas Adams, but I also like stuff like what Michael Pollan, James Loewen (Lies my teacher told me Zinn's A People's history), Jared Diamond, and other socially/historically relevant nonfiction.

Movies - I'm kind of a movie buff, so I really love all kinds of different genres, mostly the well done gangster flicks (Godfather I/II), but also stuff like foreign stuff like Elevator to the Gallows, The Seventh Seal, The Life of the Others, Let the Right One In, so, yeah, my taste in movies is all over the place.

Music - The Black Keys, The Strokes, Phish, The Fratellis, Miles Davis, The Beatles, The White Stripes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Grateful Dead, Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Bob Marley, Bob Dylan, etc, etc.

Food - Sushi, Indian, and to a certain extent, everything else.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Couldn't do without

- The sun
- Friends/family

Prefer not to do without
- Music
- phone (Android FTW)
- Microbreweries
- the number 6 (not really, but this is kind of a stupid list anyway...)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Life, the Universe, and Everything. Not really, that's just a book I like. I think about a lot of different things, and it's really hard not to make a bunch of vague generalizations for this section.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
That making this whole profile is causing me some cognitive dissonance, and I would feel weird about telling my friends that I met someone online.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
I like this site kind of like I like a lot of different websites. It's a great diversion for a few minutes here and there. There are, no doubt a lot of interesting people on here, but even the most complete profile gives you about zero percent of an idea of what a person would really be like. So, message me if you have some opinion on something I wrote that you absolutely need to tell me, or if you'd like to have an awesome guy friend.
