I am fun, loving, and a tad fiery.

My Self-Summary

I'm a bit of a social animal and enjoy a spontaneous, lively weekend. I'm nerdy, have a pretty irreverent sense of humor, and love to laugh. I feel equally at home in a nice restaurant or a dive bar. People typically find me "bubbly" or cheerful, but I can be quite serious when I need to be. I'm passionate about many things and, while I love lively debate, I find it tedious when it seems like someone just gets off on hearing himself wax philosophical. ; ) With that said, I don't think I'm judgmental and enjoy conversations and friendships with a variety of people. I love human interaction and hope that never changes. (I'm a counselor, so if it does, I'm out of a job!) I greatly value fun and practice hard at being a good hedonist, but there's definitely more to me than that. I believe strongly in using my life to impact others in a positive way. For now, I'm trying to do that by counseling prison inmates, but don't see that being my final resting place...

What I’m doing with my life

When I'm not working, I like to hang out with friends, catch a good movie, swim, read, enjoy good food and drink (sometimes admittedly in excess), travel, canoe, randomly pick up and go do something spontaneous, kiss babies and small animals, cuddle on the couch, laugh?

I’m really good at

I hate answering questions like this! Um, I hope I'm good at a lot of things...laughing too hard, awkwarding up restaurant order interactions, being a good friend, cuddling, writing, tolerating as much wasabe as humanly possible on one piece of sushi, having fun!

The first things people usually notice about me

I'm not in the habit of asking people what they think about me...?

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I love movies and wouldn't begin to list my favorites because I could go on for a while. I most recently saw Paranormal Activity, Bright Star, Good Hair, and Zombieland. Update: I just saw Men Who Stare at Goats...don't bother.

I honestly don't watch that much television, but when I do, it's probably gonna be SNL, Law and Order, Daily Show, or the Colbert Report. While I don't typically catch tv when it comes on, I am addicted to series on dvd and can seriously throw down on some Wire and Dexter.

I love music of all kinds: rock, pop, blues, country (but not new pop country). I tend to lean a little Indie in taste but most often find myself listening to NPR and the oldies station when I'm driving. I not so secretly have a Rod Stewart/Journey fetish but try not to indulge on weekdays. ;)

Books? That's almost as hard to narrow down as movies...I typically have a few books on my bedside table that I rotate. Currently, there sit "Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman," "The Omnivore's Dilemma," and "Inside the Criminal Mind." These days, I don't sit down and read as much as I'd like.

I like eating and drinking out and have to force myself to stay in. I recently tried to cultivate a love for cooking and it halfway worked, but don't like spending time over a stove if I'm only feeding myself... I love trying new places and new types of food, although I think I've pretty much exhausted most options around here! As a general rule, I prefer locally owned establishments to chains. Any type, really: Mexican, Thai, Indian, Italian, Japanese, fusion...I especially love spicy foods. I'm vegetarian (actually, lactoovopescetarian if you wanna get technical) but don't push my diet onto others.

The six things I could never do without

I could never do without good friends, dining establishments, booze, pets, movies, and books. I should probably think longer on this, but am in a hurry to hit save and be done with this profile writing thing! Oh Lord, I just thought of a 7th thing I could never do without--my water bottle. I carry it everywhere and panic when it's apart from me. I can't think of one of the 6 previously asserted necessities I can afford to drop though...I need them all! I need 7 things to be happy, I guess. Sorry.

On a typical Friday night I am

Hmm...after a dinner out (if I get off early enough), it's safe to venture that I'll probably land at Waterworks or some other watering hole.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

Ha! Right.

You should message me if

I like smart, witty, open minded people who don't take themselves too seriously and know how to have a good time. If this sounds like you, send me an email!
