The
Hitchhiker's
Guide to the Galaxy by
Douglas Adams. Unequivocably so.
The list may or may not also include
Axiomatic and
Diaspora by
Greg Egan;
1610 and
Grunts by
Mary Gentle; and, finally,
Perdido Street
Station and
The
Scar by
China Mieville.
Movies? Well, eh, if I may say so non-chalantly, of which I have
great doubts, I am fond of the
Austin Powers triptych, the
Naked Gun
trinity, classic films such as
Life of Brian and
Monty Python
and the Holy Grail, Stephen Chow's magnificent
Kung Fu Hustle, the eerily
beautiful
Kill
Bill Vol1 (though, after some thought, I find it misogynistic),
the unfairly maligned
Alien Resurrection, the
deliciously sanguinary
Battle Royale, and
Airplane!
And, lest your palate be more sophisticated and you think me a
doofious* buffoon, I have enjoyed viewing cerebral fare such as
Amelie,
Run Lola Run,
Eternal
Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,
Sideways,
Shaun of the Dead, and
Crouching Tiger,
Hidden Dragon. It is merely that I am unmotivated to rewatch
them, whereas
Austin Powers can be watched over
and over and over again with no noticeable depreciation of the
awesome awesomeness.:)
* may not be a real word
I don't watch tv, but
Futurama,
Invader Zim, and
Blackadder number among my
favourite tv shows. (Your head is permitted to explode at this
point if it feels so inclined.)
Bromwell High has been tickling my
fancy of late, but it is too early to tell how far it will
rise.
My musical tastes favour
Punk of
the Distillers and
Dead Kennedys
variety;
Metal of
the
Helloween,
Rammstein. and
Nightwish
variety;
Rock of
the White
Stripes and
Dresden Dolls variety;
Folk of the
Utah Phillips and
Billy Bragg variety;
and
Classical of
the
Beethoven
and
Mendelssohn variety.
I am fond of
carbohydrates, but
proteins add a certain
je ne sais quois flavour.
